dux Posted August 8, 2014 Report Posted August 8, 2014 (edited) Erratic knows what's up. I've been saying it for ages that GO is a pale imitation of 1.6. Once I even went as far as saying that I think CS: Source is better than GO. It just doesn't feel as satisfying, rewarding or as tightly strung as 1.6. Edited August 8, 2014 by dux PogoP 1 Quote

Deathy Posted August 8, 2014 Report Posted August 8, 2014 I guess eyecandy > gameplay, but I don't really know playercounts for both right now. I'd say there's more money flowing in GO though, not only for Valve. Quote
Erratic Posted August 8, 2014 Report Posted August 8, 2014 I don't know, I think when dux and I are on the same page something is definitely fucked. I didn't even mind source all that much, played it a considerable amount though nothing close to the original. Seemed like physics barrels were enough to throw people into a tizzy with that one. So I don't think it's a case of longing for the glory days. Quote
FMPONE Posted August 8, 2014 Report Posted August 8, 2014 GO is really fun, it may be not be 1.6, and a lot of people obviously wish it were, but at the end of the day it's got almost 200k concurrent users daily now. It's got some of the most exciting tournaments in E-Sports and more huge tournaments coming up. It's got the most creative community out there IMO. It's got bar none the most innovative extras and DLC-type stuff ever conceived. The devs are really observant of the community. It's obviously doing something very, very right. Is it right up your alley? Maybe not. But I also doubt you've put much time into it. I can say for myself that mapping for the game happened first, and enjoying it happened second, but that's because it's a brutally difficult game even if it's a brutally simple game. Don't get me wrong, there are some legitimate criticisms of the game. The official Valve servers run like an absolute dog-shit sandwhich covered in poop sauce, which is not cool for an E-Sportsy title. Valve dances around the issue of 128 tick servers, which would please their hardcore community, blaming performance reasons that don't apply to those same hardcore folks with great rigs. The amount of hackers is still Too Damn High. Still, serious problems though these are, I think most people will see the great game going on there either way. leplubodeslapin, ShockaPop and Thurnip 3 Quote

Puddy Posted August 8, 2014 Report Posted August 8, 2014 I recently tried 1.6. I preferred the feel of GO. :x GO just needs some getting used to and then you're all set. Quote
DrywallDreams Posted August 8, 2014 Report Posted August 8, 2014 I prefer 1.6's shooting (and the dated aesthetics are still great), but CS:GO is better in almost every other respect. Quote
dux Posted August 8, 2014 Report Posted August 8, 2014 I tend to feel like that my feet are made of soap in GO. In 1.6 I feel in complete control of movement. I also prefer 1.6's look and style because you can easily identify other players in the environment, GO I feel overwhelmed by the surrounding environment and find it hard to identify players. 1.6's shooting and recoil is second to none and will never be beaten, just GoldSrc is too good and unburdened by modern day physic systems and other bloat assets. Sure GO looks nice, but that's the last thing you care about when playing Counter-Strike. Like Erratic said, there's a reason we spent our entire teenage years playing this shit. I was in a top 16 clan in clanbase back in the early 00's. I know that doesn't sound like dick now but back then that was pretty impressive, as well as considering I was on 56k and everyone had broadband, so excuse me if I might toot my own horn a bit. Squad Posted August 8, 2014 Report Posted August 8, 2014 I have never had difficulties identifying players in CSGO. In fact, I recently played CS:S some days ago, because my brother finally decided to install Steam again and he didn't have CS:GO yet (untill I convinced him to get it, it's all he's playing now). Anyway, I find readability in CS:S was pretty shitty. Try de_aztec, you can hardly tell CT from T. Also, the physics in CS:S are pretty annoying (bit overdone, because it was a new feature back in the day), unlike in CS:GO where it's hardly present. Ok, so that was not really about 1.6, I haven't played it since 2004 to be honest, so I can hardly compare. Anyway, if you're stil not convinced (which by now you should ), you should follow ELS ONE. dux Posted August 8, 2014 Report Posted August 8, 2014 (edited) I mean at the end of the day it is all personal preference. If you less serious guys prefer GO then that's great, but I'll always be a die hard 1.6 type person. Maybe one day when Counter-Strike: The Return part 6 the ISIS invasion Saddams Revenge is released they'll get back the 1.6 feeling that I covet so dearly Edited August 8, 2014 by dux Quote
PogoP Posted August 8, 2014 Report Posted August 8, 2014 Yeah I've tried CSGO quite a few times but I really don't enjoy it as much as Source and 1.6 back in the day. Either that or CS:CZ Erratic 1 Quote
