  1. Nice handwriting m8
  2. Ah crap man. Really sorry to hear it man :/
  3. There are downsides to every job, it's just unfortunate that in this case it happens to be a Welsh guy.
  4. At xmas this year I really wanted to leave my job at Creative Assembly and go back to freelancing so I could move closer to family and friends. I was probably the most fed up I've ever been in my life to be honest, and couldn't give a shit about the game I was working on (Halo Wars 2). However, I can happily say that I've been back with Unknown Worlds freelancing for 2 months or so now and I'm having a great time, and I'm moving house this Saturday. Finally moving back to the West Midlands where the rent is half what it is down here near Brighton, and I can finally start the life I've wanted for ages but felt I couldn't have because there were no jobs in the area I wanted to move to. Really content right now.
  5. Hah I've found that everybody's just faking it, no matter how confident they seem. Nice though man. Where you thinking of buying?
  6. Hah that looks wicked. Hope it's not as boring as Zombie Army Trilogy tho
  7. Ah yes.. Starship Troopers is really fresh in people's minds these days. Glad to see they're cashing in on all the hype.
  8. Increase the saturation on the roof tiles too to give it a bit more colour. Overall it looks like it's got some kind of desaturation filter on top of everything. It'd be nicer if the sun was a bit brighter, the sky were bluer, and the grass/foliage much greener. Nice work
  9. Hehe I was amazed at how much that little scene took off. It was really just an easier way of me learning Substance Designer and thinking about integrating it into my workflow. I hope they're cooking up something amazing for HL3!
  10. Nice man! The cards ont he right tree look a little odd though. Have you tried averaging the normals across the mesh?
  11. Really loved this game, completed it the other day. Got a bit bored of all the running backwards and forwards though, it got a bit convoluted towards the end. Still, really great experience. Did anyone use any of the Mimic powers? I focused all my Neuromods on the 'normal' skills instead.
  12. I just found this area and I swear one of those fuckers was a mimic. This game is incredible.
  13. Disclaimer - I work for UWE, but haven't worked on Subnautica. So glad you're enjoying it Saiodin, they've really nailed it. I played it for the first time a few months ago and I was blown away by it. It's so atmospheric! I can't wait to play the final product.
  14. Cool! Hope this is good. I loved Darksiders 1. Wasn't a huge fan of the second. I felt that the character felt a bit weedy.. and tbh Im not a huge fan of this character. She looks a bit naff imo.
  15. Cool stuff, is that for a Source map or what? I have no idea what Junction is Carrying on with that random space shiz I was doing a few months back. Wanted to get back into hard surface in preparation for getting back to making lots more art soon. Made a Spacex inspired manned capsule/lander thing. Just a quick Marmoset render, I want to make a proper environment for this thing to set in. Need to do another pass on the decals too, they're a bit all over the place.
  16. Yeah man. One way of constantly getting pay rises/more experience
  17. Yeah, we've finished up development of HW2 now. Been there for over 2 years, I fancy a change of pace, and a bit more of a challenge! I'm working with Unknown Worlds on their next project and maybe a bit of Subnautica too
  18. Haha! Hope you're enjoying yourself over there man. Can't wait to try this!
  19. Sweet! Got my free copy with my Sega code, on my last day working at Sega
  20. Great news, congrats!
  21. *shrugs* It's a realistic WW2 shooter. What's to get excited about? I'm surprised people aren't more critical. Aren't you guys bored of playing the same shit? Sure it's been a good few years since a AAA WW2 game, and we're now in a new generation of games, but you know EXACTLY how the game is going to play out. You know exactly how the guns are going to shoot. You know exactly which vehicles will be in this game. You know exactly the types of enemies you'll be shooting. I can guarantee one of your buddies is going to die in the singleplayer campaign and it's going to be super emotional with orchestral music playing in the background. I think the sci-fi CoD games were more interesting than this. I didn't play them, but at least they tried something a bit different. Dunno, maybe I'm just looking at this through a cynical lens. What other settings would you guys like to see in a CoD game, I wonder? Have they ever made one set in Vietnam? That could be interesting. Or perhaps some kind of alternate history.. Dunno. I guess the huge production costs and lengthy production time means the CoD series is always inevitably going to have to be lowest common denominator, and they couldn't really explore a smaller conflict/war.
  22. Those fucking ceiling monsters in Ocarina of Time. The noise it makes as the shadow gets bigger, and then the weird little hand creature falls on your head... really clever monster idea Tiberium in the original C&C games. It would always damage your infantry but tanks etc would be fine. That always made you think differently about traversing the environment.
  23. Just got back from the cinema.. This film is amazing! I think you put it on my radar Pone, so thanks for that man. Really interesting film... Loved it.
  24. Nice man! You mean the first book? I loved reading that a few years ago. Might give it another go soon. The sequels are really interesting too, but they kinda lost a lot of what made the first book so great. Still worth a read imo.
  25. Awesome. Is there much info out there about the film at the moment?
