@Snipa i love that prop, it looks so cool ingame, very nice texturing i don't see any edge.

@tomdom, his corpse and is outfit is awesome, well textured and well modelised, the modelisation of the face too, but you really should trying to make a new texture for it, he doesn't look human at all :-D . Or i request close up !

and rendered in max+ mentalray...

I used zmapper for the normal mapping, the mesh that i used for this rendering was at the 2nd subdiv level which was ~10k polies, I could have exported a ~3k poly mesh and it would have look only slighly worse

on 6 subd level is was over 2 million and thats the one I worked with.

<3 Zbrush

I also hear mudbox is a software posed to take over Zbrush, haven't tried it out yet

May I guess mudbox peris :)

Yeah mudbox seems quite nice. Haven't tried it out myself yet but I've seen it in use. Seems very straight forward and the layer feature seems like a nice addition.

That's really cool btw JonM :)

yeah its mudbox :). I am in love with it... it's like zbrush but with an interface thats designed by people that knew what they were doing and without all the features in zbrush you never use. The layer stuff is awesome.. i made a model today with different kinds of skins (a scaly skiny, a smooth skin with alot of pores etc) so i could just switch to what looks best. Zbrush is dead for me now :)

You still have a problem with his eyes imo, maybe i'm wrong by seeing the screens but you should try this :

They already look like that:

I think the screenshots give the impression they are looking down, when they are not.

Didn't know whether to throw this here or in the texture thread, as I'm more concerned with the skin than the model

I'm still trying to get into the whole texturing thing so I'm going around, finding game objects, and trying to recreate them on my own. Here's a simple barrel:
