Thrik Posted August 17, 2011 Report Posted August 17, 2011 I think the second coming of Christ is more likely than a Frostbite SDK any time soon. Quote

mjens Posted August 17, 2011 Report Posted August 17, 2011 Too bad, I heard that may studios got fingers on it and it's ass kicking... Quote
Minos Posted August 17, 2011 Report Posted August 17, 2011 Too bad, I heard that may studios got fingers on it and it's ass kicking... Where did you hear that? I remember seeing a video with a producer from BF3 specifically stating they didn't have any plans to license Frostbite. But yeah, a Frostbite SDK would be sweet. It's the best looking engine out there imo, BC2 looks fantastic. Regarding CE3: It's by far the most accessible engine I have ever used. Being able to completely skip lightmap baking and seeing those sweet real-time shadows as soon as you import your meshes is priceless Quote
Buddy Posted August 17, 2011 Report Posted August 17, 2011 You're counting out 4A engine (metro 2033) which all realtime as well and capable of rendering extremely complex scenes. And I would halt myself saying "best looking engine", it all depends on what you do with it (to obvious degree that is) Quote
AlexM Posted August 18, 2011 Report Posted August 18, 2011 Anyone know of some coding resources for the engine? Quote
Mr. Happy Posted August 19, 2011 Report Posted August 19, 2011 Yay for crytek! I was really dissappointed when I heard crysis 2 wouldn't have sdk and now I am really joyous that it is out! Epic and now Crytek have set an excellent precedent that all future engine makers will have to adhere to to compete. I remember seeing a video with a producer from BF3 specifically stating they didn't have any plans to license Frostbite. But yeah, a Frostbite SDK would be sweet. I think they are going to license it considering they paid a bunch of money to have the necklaces at GDC say "FROSTBITE" on them and there was an insert in the totes going on about how awesome it is Quote
knj Posted August 20, 2011 Report Posted August 20, 2011 Finally i got time today to check this shit out ! Playing with it and listening do Crysis 2 OST - it's pretty damn sweet Quote
Bunglo Posted August 20, 2011 Report Posted August 20, 2011 Yay for crytek! I was really dissappointed when I heard crysis 2 wouldn't have sdk and now I am really joyous that it is out! Crysis 2 has an SDK. Quote

Nope, all you can do is make the rollupbar wider. I requested a better viewer for a while, all we need is to wait now. You can always use the Asset Browser, it's pretty neat but last I tried it still doesnt allow you to drag and drop assets into the scene. Quote

I think you can now, certainly sure I can at work unless its a custom fix we've added locally. Quote
