KungFuSquirrel Posted July 24, 2006 Report Posted July 24, 2006 Also, Omaha? Madness! No one was from Nebraska when I still lived there. Quote
mabufo Posted July 28, 2006 Report Posted July 28, 2006 Here are some screens of a map that has been sitting on my HD for a while now - I finished most of the grunt work months ago, all that is left is a bit more optimisation, detailing, and what have you... honestly I'll probably never get around to it. Anyhow, the map is based off of the fisrt single player area of Half Life 2, the train station. I did what I think is my best, trying to turn this thing into a playable multiplayer map - maybe I'll release it. Who knows? Quote
Meotwister Posted July 29, 2006 Report Posted July 29, 2006 I see no resemblance whatsoever. . anyone think of ravenholm right now? Quote

dissonance Posted July 29, 2006 Report Posted July 29, 2006 in his defense, though, ripping things is a good way to learn the tools and how to operate hammer in general. Quote

Good difference between opening an SDK map and fooling around with it, and opening an SDK map and putting your name on it as a multiplayer map in my opinion. Quote
mabufo Posted July 31, 2006 Report Posted July 31, 2006 in my defense, I didn't rip anything. As I said, I based the level off of the first single player map - and on account of all of you pointing only that out - and nothing else... I'm glad to see there are no heart stopping problems in the map - asside from the PLANNED resemblence to the first half life 2 single player level. Secondly, I did learn quite a bit with this one - and that's the goal anyway eh? EDIT: the brush work is also 100% original, so fuck yourselves Quote

I wasn't talking about that map. The train station had parts that looked in my eyes copy pasted directly from an SDK map. Which happens quite a lot on level design forums that people just take an HL2 SDK map and place some multiplayer spawn entities in it. It was only after, that he said he re-created it all himself.
