Puddy Posted July 1, 2012 Report Posted July 1, 2012 I'm pretty content hanging on the forum. But if you want more chatting, I really recommend the group room chat feature on Steam (Go into Friends -> Groups -> *click down arrow* -> Join Group Chat Room). How populated is the IRC chat usually btw? Quote
Bunglo Posted July 1, 2012 Report Posted July 1, 2012 There's a couple guys who joined in like 98', that's about it. Quote
Thrik Posted July 1, 2012 Report Posted July 1, 2012 IRC still has a fair few people on it, I think the average is about 30 people — although how many of them are actually paying attention is a different story. For a few years prior to these forums being erected in 2003 MapCore didn't really exist outside of IRC, so it was extremely busy until several years ago. Now there's still usually people around (including those who for whatever reason never made the jump to the forums), and I'm always in there when I'm on my home computer. Kind of sad to see it such a shell of its former self (ie: hundreds of people online at any one time) but I guess that's representative of us all growing up and not being able to sit on IRC all day. I for one find it much easier to work forums around my life! Quote
PogoP Posted July 1, 2012 Report Posted July 1, 2012 Yeah Thrik that's quite sad really. I was never around for the old 'IRC' days, I think I joined around 2006 and just went on the forums. It's sad that nobody really posts up any work any more, I'd love to see more of that sort of stuff. But as you said, everyone's busy working nowadays! Quote
kleinluka Posted July 6, 2012 Report Posted July 6, 2012 I haven't been on IRC in ages. Is anyone still chatting in #Mapcore? Last few times I went it was pretty dead Quote
General Vivi Posted July 6, 2012 Report Posted July 6, 2012 We could always use the mapcore steam group... best way to go imo Quote
selmitto Posted July 6, 2012 Report Posted July 6, 2012 It's quite dead, unfortunately. https://gamesurge.net/chat/ /join #mapcore I'm with generalvivi: the Steam Group chat room could be a better way to chat. I will be there! Quote
marks Posted August 12, 2012 Report Posted August 12, 2012 if there is a mapcore chat going - invite me to it fuckers. im sneddon.mark SHOCKINGLY Quote
cityy Posted August 12, 2012 Report Posted August 12, 2012 Is anyone using QuakeNet these days? The only reason I don't hang out on the mapcore IRC is because it is on gamesurge and I'm not firm with it. Edit: I just joined the chat room of the Steam group, it's empty. I'll be hanging around in case anyone is fancy some.. Edit2: Edit3: Al Anselmo joined me, we had a nice chat! I suggest we all meet in the chat every day from now on and hug each other. Quote
spexel Posted June 12, 2013 Report Posted June 12, 2013 Hello everyone, I'm new here (only on this forum, not as a level designer) and I'm looking for level designers to build a Skype group where we can all talk about level design, engines, etc. I think it would be a great way to make friends, show your work and exchange tips. My Skype is: spexel1 see ya! (If you are already part of a Skype group, please let me know) Quote
knj Posted June 12, 2013 Report Posted June 12, 2013 i'm so glad you didn't say sex group, damnn Quote
