Deathy Posted February 7, 2008 Report Posted February 7, 2008 It's amazing what you create with the ID-Tech4 Engine. I'm speachless~ Quote
Zeta Posted February 7, 2008 Report Posted February 7, 2008 any chance of an in-editor shot bj? Quote
Seldoon182 Posted February 7, 2008 Report Posted February 7, 2008 @ killertomato: Too much advertising ! Quote
Thrik Posted February 7, 2008 Report Posted February 7, 2008 D3adlode has penchant for creating high-detail rooms. I'm surprised he hasn't looked into using ID4. Isn't the editor reminiscent of the Worldcraft/ID/Valve way of building levels too, seeing as it is technically a later version of the same engine? Quote
Psyshokiller Posted February 7, 2008 Report Posted February 7, 2008 Thrik: It's just the radiant as you know it from Q3, plus some new features. Great as usual BJA! Quote
Erratic Posted February 7, 2008 Report Posted February 7, 2008 Yeah that kicks ass. Yours and Methods stuff are great examples of D3 engine usage. Brush based editors forever. Quote
dux Posted February 7, 2008 Report Posted February 7, 2008 D3adlode has penchant for creating high-detail rooms. I'm surprised he hasn't looked into using ID4. Isn't the editor reminiscent of the Worldcraft/ID/Valve way of building levels too, seeing as it is technically a later version of the same engine? Yeah, it's the same principle, brushes, etc. But the interface of Radiant makes em want to scream then cut off my fingers and plunge my bloody stumps into acid. Hammer is an ancient pile of shit, but I just love it's interface for too much. Quote
Pampers Posted February 8, 2008 Report Posted February 8, 2008 beautiful work there BJA, really nice Quote
JeanPaul Posted February 8, 2008 Report Posted February 8, 2008 Really awesome! If you change one thing, just make your lighting have more contrast and it will be perfect Quote
dissonance Posted February 8, 2008 Report Posted February 8, 2008 Good lord, BGA, that looks simply incredible... like something I'd expect to see in 3D World or such. PS, please tell me this is for some sort of Alice-esque Jack and the Beanstalk mod. Quote
BJA Posted February 8, 2008 Report Posted February 8, 2008 Thanks guys @Quakis: I did put some lichen on it, just so slightly that you almost can't see it. But good point with the green moss to spice things a little bit more up. @Zete: I currently don't have the game/editor here. Is there anything specific you want to see or to know? @JeanPaul: When using an ambient fog you automatically loose a lot of contrast, but will see what I can do. @dissonance: Sorry to disappoint you, but no Alice, Silent Hill, Resident Evil or whatsoever mod Quote
Zeta Posted February 8, 2008 Report Posted February 8, 2008 nothing specific, just curious as to how the scene looked in the editor environment. Quote
m8nkey Posted February 9, 2008 Report Posted February 9, 2008 @ killertomato Appears to be a VERY early WIP. I'll wait to see more before chucking in my 2 cents. What's it actually for? CS or a mod? @BJA Damn that looks nice. Do you intend to release it as a playable level? I hope so. Quote
D3ads Posted February 9, 2008 Report Posted February 9, 2008 Amazing stuff once again BJA! D3adlode has penchant for creating high-detail rooms. I'm surprised he hasn't looked into using ID4. Isn't the editor reminiscent of the Worldcraft/ID/Valve way of building levels too, seeing as it is technically a later version of the same engine? I'm fiddling about with stuff in ID4 when I have time actually, it's not quite the same as Hammer though, as dux pointed out. Quote
m8nkey Posted February 11, 2008 Report Posted February 11, 2008 Yeah, it's the same principle, brushes, etc. But the interface of Radiant makes em want to scream then cut off my fingers and plunge my bloody stumps into acid. Hammer is an ancient pile of shit, but I just love it's interface for too much. Radiant is the king of quake-esque editors!!!111 I love it and still use it for quickly roughing out layouts and more complex brushwork before importing it into hammer. In more recent versions of QERadiant it's even possible to merge brushes. Comes in handy after breaking a brush into triangles for vertex manipulation for unconventional shapes. Even though most details are done using models this is still useful. I also find the single viewport and the fact you don't have to select different modes to access all the tools more intuiative than Hammer. If they fully integrated Source support into it, it would be my editor of choice hands down. Of course this is all purely subjective and general consensus says otherwise. You should definately keep playing with it D3ads, would suite your style nicely and it is a rad editor. Quote
