Corvus Posted December 15, 2021 Author Report Posted December 15, 2021 Did a draft for a trailer that suppose to show the environment and how the weather can be changed . Not fancy editing and music so far. Serialmapper 1 Quote

Corvus Posted January 13, 2022 Author Report Posted January 13, 2022 (edited) There's also a playable demo that you can check out here: DEMO This was my most time consuming project that I've started back in 2018, but then scrapped and returned to it in 2021. It took about 8 months to complete and was a great learning experience for me. Edited January 18, 2022 by Corvus Serialmapper, FMPONE, Mr.Yeah! and 1 other 3 1 Quote

Corvus Posted July 2, 2022 Author Report Posted July 2, 2022 I've improved the foliage density and added some moss cards on rocks, and some other changes to hopefully make the forest look more realistic and foresty. El Moroes, MadsenFK, Serialmapper and 5 others 7 1 Quote
Corvus Posted July 17, 2022 Author Report Posted July 17, 2022 Second iteration on the particle system for wind and rain, I've added the water mist particles that can spawn on any surface around the camera and then get blown by wind + individual water molecule particles + the giant mist particles that are spawn at 300m above you. You can see it mostly in the tree canopy. Also the wind now carrying leaves branches and palm leafs. There's also a perlin noise that adds wind gusts to particles. Right now I'm kinda struggling with overdraw and not really sure how to get the look and density that I want without killing the perfomance. Evert, Serialmapper, FMPONE and 2 others 5 Quote

It just depends on what you’re going for. As someone who lives in South Florida where there are plenty of palm trees, I can assure you that palm frawns are not flying off every few seconds, those things are heavy. If they do fall off they will mostly sit on the ground and roll over or blow around. No chance you will see them flying horizontally in the air unless it’s a category 5 hurricane. They probably weigh 10-20 pounds if it’s a good one. Also, tbh, the wind looks very scary. Very hurricane like. Not sure if you’re going for that, it might be better more subtle in general because those look like extreme wind gusts that would be equivalent to a category 2 or 3 storm or a really intense thunderstorms that happens once a year or so at most. Thanks a lot for the feedback! With the palm leaves i was mostly inspired by the storm in one of the battlefield 5 tropical maps where, it it was mostly an artistic choice. But yeah thanks for mentioning that ill definitely try to tweak it to make it more realistic in the future. Regarding the intensity the wind. Yeah it was kind of an intention to make it look scary and strong :D It can be tweaked from light breeze to the stormy look that i have in the video. I've set up a wind widget, here's the video that shows it off. Quote

I like the way the palm trees bend, maybe they could afford to bend a bit more, and the other trees bend less but "shake" more? just thinking about observing storms from windows and thinking about what makes them feel "dire" or particularly threatening Quote
