not a bad normal reflex. but the details are quite unevenly distributed and it's like the stones are made of different materials really, however in the diffuse it seems to be all same.

The second last stone (from top) has a lot more small details than the rest. Also it seems pretty smooth.

But it's nice to see normals with some more depth.

Its not really a case of bricks getting broken or not, its just that the actual surface texture of each brick is VERY different according to the normal map, which doesn't really make sense when looking at the diffuse. Cracks, chips, etc... can all be distributed unevenly sure (though too unevenly and it's gonna tile pretty badly I'd guess), but the general roughness of these bricks looks really really different, which, I agree with Phil, just seems wierd.

Got any shots of this in an engine Reflex (or in a render)?

For a rough explanation of how it is done you can go two pages back and look at the bottom. For more details I hope to have a tutorial up in a couple of weeks but I can't promise, there's not much additional time on my hands right now.
