mod thoughts

After hearing someones mod idea on IRC#mapcore , i am wondering if there is any creativity left and if this remnant is me. So if you have an idea for a mod then write it down here. I am just curious! Maybe Garry will build it?

I always wanted to use a mod that used the basic premise of Ikaruga. You can switch between white and black with the press of a key. Your white gun hurts black players and heals white players. Your black gun hurts white players and heals black players. Guns would probably need to function like UT shock rifles (half a second to a full second of charge up, then releases the rail shot) so that one or two shots would kill you. Switching colros would result in a 1 second buffer where you can't shoot and a 5 second buffer where you can't change color again. Your health can max out at 200%. Levels would probably be smaller deathmatch arenas to keep the action fast.

Sounds simple and interesting, only you would need to make the colors red and blue or something else, white and black doesn't sound pc. :P:):oops:

Because most mods fail at making progress in animating, coding, art and have problems with lazyness, my idea is to replace all playermodels with orbs & spheres of diffrent colors. They could even be sprites.

Anyways the possibilities are endless. You could have black and white orbs too

I've some ideas for games I'd like to make, but the only mod I've really got in mind is Research Project: ELVA, which I started up just before HL2 was announced (bad timing). It is far from creative though, what with effectively being a rip off of Phantom Crash for the Xbox :D I still reckon it could be awesome though.

While I don't mind sharing map ideas and the like, the game designs I'd rather keep to myself for now. I don't think any of you guys are likely to steal them, but I'd still like to keep them under my hat for the time being. There are two I'm particularly proud of, and both are in tried and tested game genres, but they each have a few changes that are the focus of the gameplay. Either would be familiar to play, yet hopefully have those killer hooks that reel people in.

I was thinking about modernish Guntlet'ish multiplay game for HL2 where the player controls his avatar from a isomethic perspective (is that sayd right)

The world itself is build 3d but you can't rotate or anything and the screen slides along when you move your avatar.

It would be a multiplayer game with CTF and FFA gamestyles and you can get better equipment, powers etc from chests or crates that spawn randomly on the map.

Some physics and traps and whatever I can think of can be in it :)

Once thats done in a modern style there could be medievil and future settings/weapons/maps :)

Could be rebels vs combine initially.

A bit oldshoolish/arcade and mostly aimed at having fun :)

I remember the days of playing Bomberman and Gauntlet with a few on Nintendo consoles and tought what if you can have 16 players or more running around :-)
