st0lve Posted April 3, 2006 Report Posted April 3, 2006 you could grow out of the floor in random places, entangle lumberjacks, grow into each other, fall over and squash enemies, eat them with your tree hole, regenerate grow in pools of water, block attacks while they try to chop you in half and roll around as a treetrunk. That and you are a superpowerful being watching the action from 40feet in the air as you try to squash the foes with your roots. Boring St0lve?No, but I also find most concept art for mods damn cool. But the thing is, get this stuff, into a game. Thats your problem. Quote

No, but I also find most concept art for mods damn cool. But the thing is, get this stuff, into a game. Thats your problem. You believe this is any more difficult than building a realistic counterterrorism mod with 30 different guns and a few playermodels? The idea of black holes eating planet, planets are orbs, black holes are black orbs. You can build the models/sprites in an hour, focus on coding. The time vs women mod, time is invisible, women... well warbeast has already made a woman model. The mod is basically finished. Quote
Belgarion Posted April 3, 2006 Report Posted April 3, 2006 I've never seen any FPS with realistic bows. The "only" problem with such ideas would be animating and coding. This is it, it's just my idea and what I'd love to play/work on. If it's innovative or not fuck it, I don't care. I fucking hate these stupid japanese games being labeled as "genius" just because they feature some random stupid ideas. theif.. just work on it then. you don't need anyone's approval to work on something you think will be awesome. do it man. kleinluka Posted April 4, 2006 Report Posted April 4, 2006 what about robots versus Jesus? Where one team is a bunch of robots and the other team is one player as Jesus. Did you know that in South Africa when you say "robot" it means traffic light? Quote
von*ferret Posted April 4, 2006 Report Posted April 4, 2006 Lumberjacks only have a certain ammount of strength. They only regain it if they have the glory of killing a real player. Problem is you can't tell the real players from the fake trees as they all look the same. Like boxwars, but everyone is growing and shifting so you can never tell who's who. Done proceduraly I think that would be neat so that every game is different. Youd really only need a terrain mesh Quote
Pericolos0 Posted April 4, 2006 Report Posted April 4, 2006 i love the black hole idea. You could make it into some sort of katamari type game in space. Catch things in your orbit or swallow them to become bigger. Big black holes have a more powerful gravitational slingshot and can fling objects in their orbits to attack other black holes. Quote
The Postman Posted April 4, 2006 Report Posted April 4, 2006 what about robots versus Jesus? Where one team is a bunch of robots and the other team is one player as Jesus. Did you know that in South Africa when you say "robot" it means traffic light? So we're going to be making a South African Jesus themed driving game? Quote
Zacker Posted April 4, 2006 Report Posted April 4, 2006 Uhm, my mod thoughts:) Synopsis Sands of War 2 is a futuristic and yet realistic first person shooter with emphasis on team work and tactics. A battle between the Coalition of Democracy (CoDe) and AIM (Allied Independent Monarchies) is set in tough desert environments. Visually it looks like a FPS. On an individual level it's an RPG. As team it's an RTS. Basically SoW2 is the ultimate game. Background In Sands of War you are taking part in the big clash of civilizations. Many thought that our earth would become a planet with peace - things turned out different. *SoW2 dd Quote
Pericolos0 Posted April 4, 2006 Report Posted April 4, 2006 so basically its micro management hell Quote
ReNo Posted April 4, 2006 Report Posted April 4, 2006 Not so bad if you break down management by delegating it through different people. Commander, Division Leader, Squad Leader, or something of the sort. Hierarchies for the win! Quote
Ginger Lord Posted April 4, 2006 Report Posted April 4, 2006 I had a wildly un-PC mod idea involving suicide bombers...I thought it was probably too dodgy to do. Quote
Izuno Posted April 4, 2006 Report Posted April 4, 2006 (1) i really like the idea of a Spore like game in that everything is procedural based (oh boy...) in particular, I'd love to see a MacGuyver game where you have to solve problems using whatever you can find, relying on your knowledge of physics, chemistry, thermodynamics etc... Solutions to problems and puzzles would be largely physics and property based and it would give players a lot of freedom and creativity to get past obstacles. but obviously that would be really tough to implement, damn near impossible with today's tech. how do you recreate the ingenuity of the puzzles in a MacGuyver show such that every player can find their own way and accomplish objectives without leading them down a preset path? i'm sure Will Wright will figure it out before any of us and Spore II will be a licensed MacGuyver game. (2) I would like to see a team oriented puzzle mods where people have to cooperate to beat the other team. Maybe you have many players on a side who have to all work together to solve a big physics problem (oh boy...physics, multiplayer, lag oh my). Just to see people trying to communicate and cooperate would be a mess. Doubt it would be a popular thing, just something I'd like to see. Would be interesting from a gamer behavioral study point of view. (3) I'd like to see more co-op style mods against AI like GRAW. War is cool, and I'd like more of it that are "rip offs" of GRAW and previous iterations of this style of gameplay...simply because I think there are more venues where this could be cool. Just think it could be made a little more cinematic yet still retain the tension and ferocity of multiplayer, and again, would be funny to see people trying to work together. I'm sure there would be a lot of lame servers but hopefully a few good ones. (4) mod(Jesus + rollerskates) = win Quote
