Mclogenog Posted June 8, 2012 Report Posted June 8, 2012 It's been a while since I posted anything, so here's a screen of a puzzle game I made over the last few days. Hopefully releasing it soon: EDIT: You can download the beta now if you like! Quote
Fuzyhead Posted June 19, 2012 Report Posted June 19, 2012 Looking good, especially the radio tower. But in my opinion you should rework the Brandenburger Tor and the Reichstag, both of these buildings are impressively large (the Reichstag more then the Brandenburger Tor). Currently the last images (in contrast to the first one) don't deliver any feelings to me. You also could try to get some different lighting on some special spots Is this a map for Nuclear Dawn? RedYager Posted June 19, 2012 Report Posted June 19, 2012 Thanks for your feedback! The map is indeed for nuclear dawn. I am well aware of the massive scale of both the Brandenburg gate and the Reichstag, however I had to fiddle around with scales for a long time before something actually fit, game play wise. The area is somewhat based on Praiser Platz, but aside from that its a mish mash of lots of area's of Berlin. I used building and layout reference mostly from Potsdamer Platz, and ended up shoving the Berlin TV tower right in front of the BB gate. Quote
_gb Posted June 20, 2012 Report Posted June 20, 2012 Very cool, the scale of the brandenburg gate is OK but the Reichstag really is ridiculously tiny compared to the real thing. Quote
Kenturrac Posted June 20, 2012 Report Posted June 20, 2012 i live in berlin and look at these pictures and it so weird. some of these buildings are not even close to each other. but i think the most player didnt care about these things btw: the tv-tower is damn huge building. i think the size compared to the crane doesnt fit. RedYager Posted June 20, 2012 Report Posted June 20, 2012 I wasn't aiming for realistic scales, if that was the case the map size would have been insanely huge, the Reichstag, BB Gate and Tv Tower are all much smaller than they are in real life. Something that wasn't too unnoticeable about the stock Nuclear Dawn maps is that the iconic buildings they've used are also scaled down to be much smaller, the parliament buildings in London are tiny and if they could get away with replacing the Westminster Abbey with retro apartments, I could get away with dumping the TV tower where it is Thanks for the feedbacks guys Quote
Sentura Posted June 21, 2012 Report Posted June 21, 2012 looks pretty good, are all the assets yours as well or...? also, NO! you must listen to my critique about how small your buildings look! Quote
2d-chris Posted June 21, 2012 Report Posted June 21, 2012 Yup in Crysis 2 for example, we didn't build most things to scale, just what worked for game play and felt good visually. I went to Berlin last year, nice city, maps looking good too! Quote
mjens Posted June 21, 2012 Report Posted June 21, 2012 Yep, proportions have to be proper so the viewer won't say it's fucked. There's no way to put real life measures into the game and make it feel fine... Quote
RedYager Posted June 21, 2012 Report Posted June 21, 2012 looks pretty good, are all the assets yours as well or...? Most of them are ND ones, however I did create a fair few such as lamp posts and traffic lights, the BB gate consists of mostly meshes, same for the Reichstag, some barricades here and there, the TV tower and other parts of buildings. Youme Posted June 21, 2012 Report Posted June 21, 2012 Really want to be done with TF2 for good so I'm working hard on finishing current projects: Quote
