Contest finalists have been chosen!

Before announcing our finalists, we want to thank everyone for participating and giving your feedback: with over 150 entries, this event has thus far exceeded expectations in every way.

We strongly considered adding an “honorable mentions” addendum to this announcement, but realized there were simply too many maps which came extremely close to becoming finalists, lacking only one of our “big three” judging criteria components.

As finalists competing for the grand prize, the authors of these levels will be able to update their work based on your feedback, including fine-tuning their competitive layouts using public playtesting over on Reddit. P.S. – To all our wonderful participants: don't despair. Level design is an art to be pursued for its own sake, and brilliant work should always be celebrated and studied. Additionally, Valve has consistently supported CS:GO community mapping, and Valve Operations remain a lucrative and thrilling opportunity for community mappers such as yourself. Great work everyone. Contests like this are really great for seeing all the great talent that exists in the community. And regardless of the finalists it's always a win win situation will all the maps released

Wooow, I was so certain Latteh's cs_shichang was going to make it! Regardless congrats to the finalists!

Shame there's not an honorable mentions list. I'm bummed my map didn't make the cut, but I'd rather figure out what I'd need to do to improve the map.

Congrats again and good luck for 1st place!

Nice, These and many more entries are operations worthy, and I sure hope to see them in one in the future. Hopefully this makes them visible for Valve. :)

And with the contest over for me, I can now take to updating my own map!

This has been a great experience, some maps I expected in the finals and some I diddn't. For once in for ages, the workshop breathed quality competetive maps! :D Good luck to the four in the remaining two weeks.

Congratz to all finalists!

It was great to see the amount of entries into this competition and it definately caused a noticable influx of quality maps on the Workshop :) Props to the Mapcore crew for making this the succes that it is!

It's so nice to see such a big community of CS:GO mappers. Must've been hard to to decide which 4 maps deserved to be in the top. I've taken a good look at these and I think I have a favourite. It's hard to decide between two of them.

The maps are technically well made. Congratulations to the 4 finalists. I'm curious which one of them will be the most played on public servers around the world. That will be the true winner.

      Radix posted a topic in Level Design,

      One of the projects I worked on after I made de_austria.

      Yeah, I know the timing is really bad (CS2!), but can't change it... 🙁

      In general a lot went wrong during this project. Had a lot of problems with the layout, but I think I found a good compromise in the end. Also learned many new things. Maybe I would even be ready to create a really good map now after all, but I think that it's gonna be the final one. I really like making maps, but it has become too time consuming over the years for just being a hobby. Unfortunately I never managed to get a job in the games industry. So that's it. I hope it's a worthy ending of 20 years of making maps for me. 🙂

      Shore is a bomb defusal map for CS:GO that takes place on Lofoten Islands, Norway. (Also have a Hostage version of this that works well imo)
