[EP2] Mission Improbable

Mission Improbable is my singleplayer project that I've been working on since February 09.

The mod is planned over 3 maps, each released individually. The first part is now available for download.

In this first map the player is tasked with reactivating a remote Resistance listening post. The map takes

place in and around an old lighthouse station, and should offer around 30 minutes of gameplay.

i just played through it. overall there was a good balance in gameplay, which was enjoyable. two things bothered me:

a) not enough guides in certain places as to what the player has to do. for instance,

the gunship cave/tunnel was really hard to spot at first, as was the correct door at bridge to the lighthouse

b) there was a stark contrast between low detail and high detail in the skybox ratio. lost some of the hl2 feeling when i stopped and looked around.

those are fairly minor though. it's a respectable and entertaining release, here's to hoping the next episode will be just as good.

Just finished it, really good fun a nice mix of game play in a relatively small space.

Only died twice, once because i sprinted across the bridge into a combine assault, the second time because apparently an auto-save was right in front of them :fist:.

Insta man, this map is great, I had lots of fun with it. It's a great example of smart and entertaining level design. I loved the little surprises and the fact that they weren't as obvious as one would expect.The graphics also do their job quite well, however, I'd love to see some more custom content here and there.

I also found a bug btw. I'm not sure if it's a Source related bug or a wrong shader you are using for the water, anyways, pointing the flashlight to the water gets the reflections all screwed up:

I also felt that the cubemap placement could be better, specially in the dark indoor areas.

All in all this is a great accomplishment and I can't wait for the next releases. Congrats dude :quagmire:

(I also missed some of your wicked sense of humor, hoping to see more of that in the next releases :) )
