Steppenwolf Posted May 27, 2005 Report Posted May 27, 2005 dont use refs with sunshadows on it. it will always look weird ingame Quote
mike-0 Posted May 27, 2005 Report Posted May 27, 2005 my parents made a big deal about how protective the tiling is or something, i live near a beach, so we get hit by a little hurricane every year. Before we got the new siding, we'd lose the old ghetto wood siding and shit when one came by. Quote
DaanO Posted May 28, 2005 Report Posted May 28, 2005 Feedback again please I've made 2 versions now, an ordinary road and the one with damaged asphalt. Quote
st0lve Posted May 28, 2005 Report Posted May 28, 2005 it looks like a "backstage" cloth really. and the stones in the asphalt are to big. Quote
Marcos Posted May 28, 2005 Report Posted May 28, 2005 Yeah, it almost look like you painted the asphalt on a paper with real painting and burned the edges(where the damage is), and then scan it heh. You should also add more visible edges on the sides Quote
Zacker Posted May 28, 2005 Report Posted May 28, 2005 That looks very wierd Dann0! How did you manage to get asphalt and ground that unrealistic? It is not like it is ugly or bad crafted, but it just don't look right to me. Quote
Captain P Posted May 28, 2005 Report Posted May 28, 2005 It's those dark area's. I suppose they represent wheel tracks? Anyway, they make the road look very bumpy so to say. Only the edges should be like that I think. Quote
DaanO Posted May 28, 2005 Report Posted May 28, 2005 I fixed that. I have to admit i had a hard time finding decent photo sources and i'm still far from happy with the ones i'm using. That might be the problem. I'm trying to combine hand painted stuff with some concrete photosources and this is what i ended up with. I still think it's not as bad as everybody is saying it is but i agree it looks weird. Time to get my own sources i guess Oh and those black tracks have been fixed already Quote
Pericolos0 Posted May 28, 2005 Report Posted May 28, 2005 it looks nice, i like the color variation but blurry blurry blurry. You can get twice the detail out of this, and also give some more feeling of depht at the edges Quote
DaanO Posted May 28, 2005 Report Posted May 28, 2005 Taking all feedback into account, i have fiddled with my texture. Thanks for the feedback again, people. I'm learning stuff much faster thanks to this and i'm enjoying it In the newer version i -fiddled with the color, contrast of the whole thing -decreased the opacity of the car tracks -added an overlay for the sides -added cracks near the sides -deleted small parts of the white stripes in the middle -decreased the saturation on the base -deleted a repeating pattern Quote
Tequila Posted May 29, 2005 Report Posted May 29, 2005 Massive improvement, I'd mess with the levels though to make it a bit darker. Quote
DaanO Posted May 29, 2005 Report Posted May 29, 2005 I'm gonna wait for a bit more feedback from people but i'm putting it on my list of things i'm gonna try so thanks Quote
