q4dm10: "Outpatient" (ugliest of the bunch, if you ask me, but this area turned out really nice)



q4dm11: "Skeleton Crew" (Mostly mine, finishing touches by Lunaran while I was off having a baby)

id love to see some maps in more creative themes though

Yeah, for the official stuff we had to stick to more stock styles/content (though we got some new stuff in there, either that didn't ship or fit the CTF motif). Community-wise there's been some really cool ones, including one that uses only stock textures but got sort of a degraded urban style, and another that used a converted Q3 set for this awesome overgrown/crumbling cathedral setting.

Going forward at home I'm trying to do some more interesting stuff. There's a couple shots at Lunaran's site (http://www.lunaran.com) of a map I've started in his Q2 tech texture remake set, but in a Q3 cathedral style... we'll see how that goes. Also want to take a stab at returning to the MCC theme (lost fleet/skeleton crew) but have it be on a destroyed ship... glowy floating bits, big broken up holes, sparking wires, etc. :P

And if mr. PhilipK finishes that texture set he's been working on, I'll have to give that a shot, too. ;)

Matt (Lunaran) is probably going to have his stuff from Tremors up in the near-ish future... The interior of the bases, if you haven't seen them, are to die for, at least compared to the rest of the map.

I kinda want to make a DM map or a smaller CTF map using that theme again so I can take a stab at the style he put together for that interior. Seriously puts my cavern/connection work to shame. :)

      One of the projects I worked on after I made de_austria.

      Yeah, I know the timing is really bad (CS2!), but can't change it... 🙁

      In general a lot went wrong during this project. Had a lot of problems with the layout, but I think I found a good compromise in the end. Also learned many new things. Maybe I would even be ready to create a really good map now after all, but I think that it's gonna be the final one. I really like making maps, but it has become too time consuming over the years for just being a hobby. Unfortunately I never managed to get a job in the games industry. So that's it. I hope it's a worthy ending of 20 years of making maps for me. 🙂

      Shore is a bomb defusal map for CS:GO that takes place on Lofoten Islands, Norway. (Also have a Hostage version of this that works well imo)
