Hi all! I decided to do a quick port/remake my old hostage Wingman map from CS:GO. I'm still on here every now and then but mostly it just ends up being to deal with yet another fucking onslaught of AI-powered spam bots that've figured out how to evade the last set of defences. It's hard just to keep an old forum peacefully online these days, but it's part of the history and worth doing I think. It's warmed my heart seeing all these old faces. People I used to chat with daily as much as 25 years ago. We were all part of each other's formative memories, had a really unique (weird) culture, and it's a time I miss greatly — along with most of the 2000s, lol. I don't need to tell anyone here the internet has changed in innumerable ways, for better or worse. But I'm so glad Mapcore still thrives thanks to great work done by FMPONE, Vaya, and others to cultivate a new era of community based on Discord where it stood a better chance of survival. That doesn't change the sense of loss that can be felt by those who were around for the earliest days though. Anything anyone wants to do to try make a space for the older hands to connect has my support.
