":2neuynum]Well, that's running windows. You have to emulate windows, and then run the apps. That's kinda sucky!

It has nothing to do with emulation when you're running Windows on a Mac with Boot Camp. It's native.

not to mention some benchmarks show windows xp runs better on a mac than a pc with comparable hardware ;D

but seriously a lot of people STILL don't understand that pc's and macs run on the same hardware....meaning you can have windows on a mac. as soon as I tell people this they're like "lol 4 real, k buy macz"

sorry i find it hard to support a company that promotes idiocy through its operating systems.

uhhh can you explain what you mean by this??

it's like they deliberately made the user interface too user friendly. everything is so rounded in speech and design that you have a hard time working around in it. i had to do guesswork to figure out how to do certain (perhaps more complex) operations on the operating system. it's like it wasn't geared towards someone with expertise at all. and if this is truly their goal, to give people the ability to fine tune a system without knowing anything about what happens when it is done or about the consequences of doing it, then i am against it. i'm not saying i'm against user friendliness, but there is a line where it crosses over to be fail safe idiot mode.

i also forgot to mention the price of their systems are much higher for the same specs of a regular computer, which is ludicrous. if design is so important, why not just buy a sculpture to hide your laptop in? i bet you could get that cheaper than whatever you pay for a macbook anyway.

finally: i call bullshit on same spec computers differing in benchmarks from a mac.

perhaps you should use lunix then sentura?

Thank you

Sentura took the words out of my mouth (I suck sometimes at getting thoughts down on paper or posts)

Also, my mother once needed a new harddrive for her "power" mac thing g4 or something. (keep in mind this is like 6 months ago) So knowing Mac's reputation, I decided to go with her when she took it to the "genius bar" (good lord that gets me everytime  a bunch of one button fuckheads who know jackshit about computers) just so she didnt get fucked out of a deal. I asked them, how much for a new 500gb internal for this mac? Dude said "$200 plus installation" and then immediately I started laughing and asked why it costs so much. His response? "Its just a better harddrive". So then I asked what made it "better" and he said "mac makes it" - I'm sorry but thats just downright brainwashed O_O

Anywhoo it turned out it was some seagate 500gb 5400rpm (holy  ) that they were charging $200 for. So I told my mother to GTFO that store and we did, I went home, ordered a 600gb western digital off newegg for $60 and installed it in like 5 minutes when it got there.

And finally, if I see one more pompous prick assed little mac commercial making fun of "PC's" I might fucking vomit. On top of never praising their own product and only putting down the competition, THEY ARE MAKING FUN OF A "PERSONAL COMPUTER" WHICH TECHNICALLY IS WHAT THEY ARE TOO" fuck I want to shoot someone when I see those commercials. (sorry about the anger here, the mac ads really get to me for some reason :P)

lol the interface is too user friendly.

If you need to do anything more complicated command + space bar > terminal = problem solved. I'm sure almost all of you own some form of ipod (itouch/iphone, whatever). How come you all don't just buy that sexy $30 rio player that does the exact same things with more space...instead of paying that evil apple premium. I noticed this trend though with people....they'll hate on mac computers but end up buying one of the peripheral electronics and then convert.

The one thing that gives you guys away as just culture biased is that you hate on apple. Indifference makes sense...who cares...it's a computer like anything else...but you all hint at dislike for people at the genius bar, the commercials, paying more for the design, and your perception of people who use macs. Have you ever tried to get a computer fixed by geeksquad? They'll charge you $400 for a used 500gb hard drive. I would know I worked there years ago. They're a business trying to make money...they're not your friend...ESPECIALLY if you're out of warranty. If you're stupid enough to expect an OEM price on a replacement hard drive at a walk-in store...they're going to assume you don't know about newegg and take you for all you're worth.

JeanPaul you're talking about "one cord cube" and "power mac" so I'm gonna assume you haven't used any of the latest apple offerings. I can't attest to how great macs were 4 years ago...but I know if I sit down at a macbook today that there's a 90% chance it's running like butter, regardless of the user, programs or time in use. Can't say the same about your average PC.

I stand by everything I said before and I don't think anything said since detracts from it. There wouldn't be a huge community of people putting OSX on dell, hp, lenovo computers if the OS wasn't something in its own right. And that's all I'm really advocating for...fuck everything else...OSX on a mac is just icing...but OSX itself is like a linux distro that holds up to everyday use.
