R_Yell Posted April 7, 2007 Report Posted April 7, 2007 My two last levels have some normal maps made with Crazybump. Making quality maps with this tool is so easy and fast, a must have. I using it now to create height maps for a render. Quote
Steppenwolf Posted April 7, 2007 Report Posted April 7, 2007 A shame nobody of you cool guys mentioned this tool earlier... I generated around 100 normal maps for Insurgency yesterday. Some will need tweaking but in general they look decent ingame. Far better then nvidia photoshop normal maps. I like that this program has more intelligent allgorithms and that one has easy control of the details etc even in complicated textures. Also the preview window works great. Quote
PhilipK Posted April 7, 2007 Report Posted April 7, 2007 Never really found a need for it. But it does work pretty nice indeed especially with the nice various detail size sliders. Would have been neat as a PS plugin Quote
kat Posted April 7, 2007 Report Posted April 7, 2007 examples~!Only got this pic up atm but everything in this map was done using CB (except for the Q4 specific stuff obviously). It really shines when doing organic stuff (bit of a shameless pimp I'm afraid as I've only got in game shots available). More shots(but of same area) Quote
michi.be Posted April 7, 2007 Report Posted April 7, 2007 Welcome to last year guys lol this one is good. crazybump is a really good tool. the displacement function works quite well. but i still prefer to edit my diffusemap a bit, making it b/w plus some fiddling around makes it working even better. Without a doubt - I always paint my normal details, and often used a very toned down version of the diffuse to add a little noise to the surface - it turns out pretty nice most of the time. Quote
kat Posted April 8, 2007 Report Posted April 8, 2007 kinda noisy.Thats's what happens when you spend 5 seconds on something CB has an interesting array of settings that if you spend time to get to know *do* produce some increadable results. It *is* worth taking a look at if you've not already. Quote

Sindwiller Posted April 10, 2007 Report Posted April 10, 2007 Yeah, .NET software. Gimme a break  One minute or five seconds, doesn't matter. Quote
