knj Posted February 1, 2014 Report Posted February 1, 2014 Still havent forced myself to play this after the BIG patch, but as far as i heared this was really bad fix ? no sound, crashes, texture flipping ect ? God Quote
⌐■_■ Posted February 1, 2014 Report Posted February 1, 2014 all of the above and many more small but none the less annoying bugs (failing hit reg, clipping, rubberbanding, disappearing hitmarkers and a shameful list of performance issues) . and now we have bf4 player appreciation month. how about appreciating the player with a game that's actually playable lol knj 1 Quote
Beck Posted February 1, 2014 Report Posted February 1, 2014 Some of the problems that have cropped up or are still apparent with the new patch Quote
shawnolson Posted February 5, 2014 Report Posted February 5, 2014 I was kind of boycotting EA after (in my opinion) they killed my favorite team game (BF2142). But a friend gifted it to me, so I had no choice. Although I still feel nostalgic about 2142 (and want it back), I personally like this new incarnation, despite the issues. I've had a lot of fun playing it with some friends and my sons. Someone needs to pass this onto the devs: add the squad leader ability to pick a point on the map for attack/defend instead of just look-at. Also, add the Move command instead of only attack/defend flag points. Pretty please? I know you have the code for it guys... bring it back from the 2142 playbook! Quote
Erratic Posted February 5, 2014 Report Posted February 5, 2014 I've clocked 100+ at this point. BF3 has better direction art wise, though BF4 is pushing more in terms of scale (I guess what do I know) but something is lost along the way, thing's don't feel as coherent. BF3 stuck with a pretty consistent set of environments for the most part and everything had a nice even layer of grit and dirt on it, including the weapon models. There's probably more different places and shit in BF4 I guess, but BF3 is so coherent visually in every way compared to BF4 it's hard to ignore. And the DLC maps improved beyond what shipped with BF3. Aftermath maps were fucking so good, fuck. That market level was incredible looking. Maps themselves is tough. Lots of neat ideas all over the place but only Shanghai and Paracel Storm feel like the real deal in BF map terms. They offer lots of unique shit to play out plus paracel harkens back to battle of midway 1942 glory days a bit. Shipped maps in general are fine just boring and safe for the most part. Seem to be more focus on symmetrical layouts in most cases. It's the Black Ops of Battlefield maps-wise. Commander is dumb/useless, pretty much made for Ipadding twats to feel like they're contributing. AC-130's are dumb. china rising maps are dumb. Spawning sucks in domination. Oh and floodzone domination layout, wtf. A-B are like 5 feet from each other with C 1km away and then you get spawned like half away across the map away from everything. I don't get it. /expert videogame analysis game is still good but is not the immaculate conception we know as BF3. also why they never brought back Grand Bazaar is a good onel. Best map from 3 totally overlooked. oh yeah something something Origin, malware, not buying titanfall, etc Quote
tr0nic Posted February 5, 2014 Report Posted February 5, 2014 (edited) DICE Los Angeles (Danger Close --> Medal of Honor) made the China Rising pack. I agree Paracel Storm is my favourite, followed by Shanghai and Dawnbreaker (love the chopper in those 2 maps) I kinda like Guilian Peaks except for the millions of snipers. The other 3 are meh.. Dragon Pass is beautiful though! Rogue Transmission is really cool although I wished for a little bit more space between flags. Lancang Dam = worst unbalanced vehicle map in BF history. Don't know why they haven't taken all Air in the map. I did not like Metro so obviously Operation Locker is a no no. Flood Zone = Cool until the levelution starts. They should have integrated the flooding levelution in Lancang Dam, and make it a multi stage map (Flags below the dam, Flags above Dam) and make the lower part floodable. Goldmud Railway is good but AA are way too strong as there are basically no fucking cover for air vehicles anywhere on the map. Man BF2 maps were so awesome. Dragon Valley, Kubra Dam, Fushe Pass all had great environment for Air fighting. Zavod is unplayable in 64player conquest. It's fucking chaotic. Best to play 32/48 on it. Hainan Resort = Wtf no cover and the flags should have been more spread out. Seems like DICE tried to put a fucking boat in every map. Actually, I enjoy a lot more 32/48p BF3/BF4. BF2 teamplay, huge maps allowed for better 64p imo. I'm still loving BF4 but I hope they step up their game for the next 4 DLC. (Also why does it take so long to release Second Assault when it has been out since FOREVER on Xbox One) fuuuuuu Oh and they need to add customisation of the 3D hud elements -->Opacity mainly. This shit is annoying. Can't see shit most of the time when player align with some of the 3D HUD. Edited February 5, 2014 by tr0nic Quote
Chimeray Posted February 5, 2014 Report Posted February 5, 2014 (edited) China Rising wasn't made by DICE LA, there likely was a lot of help though but the main level artists/designers were at DICE for at least 2 maps that I know of (and maybe all)? It's hard to know these days when a lot of EA studios chip in for the bigger titles. There's a lot of misconceptions out there between DICE and DICE LA Some even think BF4 was entirely made by DICE LA. Edited February 5, 2014 by Chimeray tr0nic 1 Quote
Bunglo Posted February 7, 2014 Report Posted February 7, 2014 50% off deluxe version on Origin today. Is $35 worth it or should I keep playing BF3? Quote
⌐■_■ Posted February 8, 2014 Report Posted February 8, 2014 keep playing BF3, srsly this. i'd wait for another humble bundle with bf4 in it or something. then you'll probably get a patched up game for a price you can't rage about. Quote
Sprony Posted February 8, 2014 Report Posted February 8, 2014 50% off deluxe version on Origin today. Is $35 worth it or should I keep playing BF3? If you have a mate who has the game, ask if you could borrow his Origin login so that you can test if it runs properly on your computer. I don't know it's current state (but based on the many news item it's still not entirely fixed). Quote
Zyn Posted February 10, 2014 Report Posted February 10, 2014 Looks like Second Assault is out very soon on PC and PS4 as Second Assault dogtags were just now handed out to Premium users. Quote
Jetsetlemming Posted February 14, 2014 Report Posted February 14, 2014 The details released about Naval Strike (cool sounding new maps, and a return of Titan mode!) broke me down into buying Premium last night. This morning I found all the Premium rewards thus far waiting for me to open them: 9 Premium battlepacks and 4 gold ones. I got this from the final gold one: Instantly made my purchase feel worth it. The China Rising maps were very underwhelming last night, but a 2x FLIR scope for my favorite gun? Yes please! Quote
knj Posted February 23, 2014 Report Posted February 23, 2014 So is it playable ? lol, it should be if EA is spittng out 2nd assault Quote
Mazy Posted February 23, 2014 Report Posted February 23, 2014 I feel like such an idiot for buying BF4 on both PC and PS4, getting Premium for PC only and then ending up playing that version for 1/10th of the time that I've spent on the PS4 :/ Heard good things about the Second Assault pack tho, even if that is just old recycled maps.
