Mr. Happy Posted October 19, 2011 Report Posted October 19, 2011 I've been playing it on PS3, wish I had gotten it on PC. But I'm loving it. Rage is really awesome, lot's of fun. A bit lacking in story in some places (wtf was the intro) but I am enjoying it alot. Regarding the textures them selves, from a distance, especially the canyon rocks and concrete structures, the game looks absolutely stunning. Overall, the guys at id nailed the art be it color, lighting, composition, it's absolutely stellar. Though the color grading is a bit much in some areas for my taste. My only disappointment is how low res everything looks when up close. It's not a huge con for me, I think it helps me focus on the game as well as the art as a whole, instead being amazed at how I can see the wood grain or whatever. Still, prior to release, I wasn't expect such low fidelity on these distances. I tottally agree with this. Quote
Serenius Posted October 19, 2011 Report Posted October 19, 2011 Took about 15 hours to finish. The only thing I didn't do were the races in Subway Town. Just when the game really starts hitting its stride it's over rather abruptly. The final level was clearly something they quickly slapped together so they could ship the game. I wish they had time to wrap it up the way they intended. Hopefully they'll do a DLC with the 2nd half of game content that didn't make it for release (kind of like FO3 did with Broken Steel). Overall, I had a lot of fun with the game despite the poor vehicle controls and menu navigation. Would definitely buy a sequel when/if it comes out. Quote
Pampers Posted October 19, 2011 Report Posted October 19, 2011 Looks wonderful however imo the gameplay is dull as fuck. There hasn't been one single moment that made think my way trough something or require any interesting solution. The gunplay just isn't that fun. i feel exactly the same sadly dunno if I'll play through all of it Quote

The repeditive driving is dull, I'll agree with you there if thats the case, but I do really wish it were just a fully linear game with driving sequences in between; maybe a couple rail shooting sections to add variety. It is admittedly pretty flat up until that point. I think they had all their newly graduated level designers working on the early levels of the game and brought in the seasoned guys for the latter part. Quote
Gloglebag Posted October 19, 2011 Report Posted October 19, 2011 The game just doesn't require me to use any interesting strategies to overcome my obstacles, no interesting puzzles in my way. No particularly interesting weapons. Only part I can remember making me use an interesting tactic would be the dead city part where you are getting swamped, there it payed off to use a turret. Quote

Are you playing the game on normal difficulty? I would say Hard is a bare-bones minimum difficulty unless you're new to the whole shooting dudes with guns thing. Agree with you completely on the lack of puzzles. Valve has had such a good track record with these, why would they drop the ball here??? Quote
-HP- Posted October 19, 2011 Report Posted October 19, 2011 Yeap, i finished the game on hardcore on my first playtrhough, and I still found the game uber easy. Quote
D3ads Posted October 19, 2011 Report Posted October 19, 2011 Someone's RAGE'd.. I finished the game some days ago, it's a fucking piece of shit The graphics are crappy and buggy, the story is so laughable even CoD looks elaborate in comparison, the AI is fucking retarded, you can't move a damn thing on the map, the gameplay is a shameless console port (durh durh durh I've forced auto-aim cause I can't have a nice input device durh durh durh) and the mission are boring. And worst of all it's 18go FOR 6 FUCKING HOURS, WHAT THE FUCK ?! In the end I'm glad I didn't pay for it Quote
-HP- Posted October 19, 2011 Report Posted October 19, 2011 It takes guts to bash something like that and in the end openly say he didn't even fucking pay for it, what a fucktard. Quote
dux Posted October 19, 2011 Report Posted October 19, 2011 I like the description in the steam page. RAGE is a groundbreaking first-person shooter set in the not-too-distant future after an asteroid impacts Earth, leaving a ravaged world behind. No it isn't. It is good, but not that. Quote
D3ads Posted October 19, 2011 Report Posted October 19, 2011 Yeah but "RAGE is a good first-person shooter" would probably not sell very well.. learn2pr Quote

I'm willing to forgive them the clever pun of calling a game about an asteroid hitting the earth "ground-breaking". Quote
