the water shader in hl2 does not use any actual texture. It only uses an animated refraction map.

But you can have different types, right? Water that is clear as day and then water that is perhaps muddy?

no, it's always 100% transparent, the only way to make it appear muddier or clearer is with fog values.

My favourite concrete wall from Half-Life (my gibs must've been splattered a thousand times against it in all those Gasworks outdoor fights... :)

Yeah, and in addition I actually play piano for more than 25 years now :-D I'm somewhat blond as well, so Schroeder is probably the closest it gets to a carricature of me :D
