EviLTaxi Posted October 7, 2004 Report Posted October 7, 2004 Well my first 3 maps was square aim maps, but my first real map hey stolve, I remember that one! mmmmh...my first map? released map? my first released map was an ESF map last summer! But Im mapping for 4 years for HL now but never released something online before last summer! I always mapped because it was fun...sometimes I playtested maps with some friends, that's all! my first playable map was a cs map and was called cs_spain! ...with r_speeds up to 2500! I think Ive got it somewhere on my HD...I upload some pics later! Quote
Tisky Posted October 7, 2004 Report Posted October 7, 2004 I first started mapping for DUKE3D, but i never finished any of those maps. Later i switched to Shadow Warrior (not the biggest switch ever). And boy did i map for that game. I made an entire city called "zilla city" , and it had an airport, a dock, trainstation, baseball arena, park, and a shopping district + a highway (with drivable cars). I never got it to work in multiplayer tho =/ . Anyway , after that i Jumped on the Quake train, and i even made full mods (Like CS) for Quake, and i didnt have any internet back then and i didnt know anyone who had. So they didnt get released or anything. Then something happens, POFF. My harddrive dies on me. All that work for nothing. *crei* By the time i had the energy to start playin around with games again Q2 had come out. So i started to map for Q2. I actually finished one map called "ott_funhouse" for this weird mod called "Over the top". I dont know if you can download the mod anywhere. But now that i remembered im gonna look.. ughh anyways, After some Q2 messing around i started to play around with Q1 just coz i liked it. Then my brother came home one day with Half-life, and we installed and loved it. After some time i started to make DM maps (only one finished tho). Yada yada yada, CS released Yada yada yada and i made loads of CS stuff in the beginning. Like, de_greenhill (huge green island in the middle of the ocean with an old military base inside it (even had a U-BOAT!)). Also made de_cemeber (Big Boat). Again my harddrives (both of the new ones) gets all retarded coz of some old RAID driver (DAMN YOU SOMEONE). I almost cried when my brother said he couldnt save my stuff and he wasnt sorry for me not backing it up. Well. I still dont back shit up, and i dont have anything ive made today on my Harddrive except for 2 release counter-strike model/skins. Im so depressed right now. =/.... PS. If anyone remember the X-COM: End of days HL mod that was shut down by infogrames (i was the co-founder of the mod) , i still have the files ;Då ~¨ even a weird map called "venice" that my brother and i made together is still there , lol.. well bye... .DS Quote

Mazy Posted October 8, 2004 Report Posted October 8, 2004 again, i think people have lots of definitions of their first map i always think about it as the first map i completed, not the first one i released Quote
Kedhrin Posted October 8, 2004 Report Posted October 8, 2004 my first map was a cube with water in it and a glowing sphere in quake 1 lol Quote

EjrulF Posted October 8, 2004 Report Posted October 8, 2004 I think i have my old Duke3D levels hiding somewhere. Meaby i should find them and post some pics lol...I can just dream to have my Q3 levels back  Quote
insta Posted October 8, 2004 Report Posted October 8, 2004 I remember switching from Duke3d to a 3d engine (quake1). Since Duke3d could not have "sector over sector", I went nuts when I could finally create 3d stuff. EVERYTHING had to be 3d! Brushes were floating in the air everywhere, because you know what, it's 3d!!! Good times. Quote
tnoh Posted October 8, 2004 Report Posted October 8, 2004 lol, i installed Duke3d and i found my old levels on some cd. Ayes, here we go: God how ugly. All screens are from same level I think i made these around 1997 or something. Quote
tnoh Posted October 8, 2004 Report Posted October 8, 2004 Duke Nukem 3d in Finnish? User.con edited, it was easy to modify that game  Quote
