Taylor Posted October 10, 2004 Report Posted October 10, 2004 First released for HL. MIGHT NEED SOME MORE CRATES, TAYLOR. Quote
Thrik Posted October 11, 2004 Report Posted October 11, 2004 First and only map I've ever finished/released.. I'm such a perfectionist that I end up never finishing maps because they don't look exactly how they do in my mind. Over the years I must have quite literally accumulated at least a hundred maps which got close to completion but never got finished off. Man, I bet some of them would have done well too. Quote
Mazy Posted October 11, 2004 Report Posted October 11, 2004 i love the way those containers are neatly stacked on top of each other tayl0r ~ especially considering that theres nothing else there D: Quote
mawibse Posted October 11, 2004 Report Posted October 11, 2004 The start of my purple period. Yeah it's the yard and apartement of where I lived at the time. I remember my freinds who played it said that when they entered the yard (the real one) they always looked up at the roof tops after a banana to RPG. (I always used the bananas in pyjamas skin in HLDM) Quote
Kedhrin Posted October 11, 2004 Report Posted October 11, 2004 oh man...if i could only post my beginnings, i think the most rediculous map (i had no idea about optimization because i didn't have the internet) i ever made was in quake 1, where i buit this HUGE cliff side with about 100 monsters all over it, and off in the distance was a gigantic castle lol... you started off the map and in front of you was 20 hell knights on a platform with a bridge between you and them.... you got a rocket launcher and well ya know, you can figure out the rest. Schmung Posted October 11, 2004 Report Posted October 11, 2004 My first ever map was for Quake, made if for me and mate to play over a land, but then foolishly uploaded it. I made two more as well. They were all bloody awful with r_speeds from hell, mostly because I was stuck on 28.8k and didn't find out what they were untill a few years back. Also made one for AQ2, which was equally dire and ridden by r_speeds of ultimate doom. The Quake ones were called YPDM1-3. The AQ2 one is still flaoting about somewhere, I think you can even read the reviews. It is however, dire. Oh and hullo everyone, some of you may know me, some of you may not. Quote
EviLTaxi Posted October 11, 2004 Report Posted October 11, 2004 that looks too nice for a first map taxi~ Of course, this is not the first map I've ever created! my first "map" was a little hollowed cube with a floating prefab couch and two hostages ...for CS! and oh yeah...the first maps I've created at all had been for Duke Nukem 3D! ...at that time I didn't even know these things were called "map"! I still remember that it was very hard for me to figure out how to create a vertical sliding door! you had to give it a number or something! And I still remember fooling my older brother (he was the only one who played my maps) with a fake enemy (dunt know the name, the one that fires rockets and floats over the ground) standing in front of a toilet with his back to the player!! that was fun...good old times! *edit* hey hey! welcome to the party, schmung!
