I've never released a map =O =/ =P

I don't think I've ever finished one really, I always get bored with it and start something new, or frustrated with some part.

When I first wanted to get involved in mapping, not long after HL was released, I had a buttload of problems with hammer (worldcraft back then) config etc, I must have uninstalled and retried to get that thing to work at least 10 times, I forget what was wrong with it and nobody knew how to help me =(

Most of my maps I build in my head, using the powerful Brain engine, I enjoy playing through them, and then I put them aside. I've also created a few mods and unique games. When it comes to putting them into Hammer or whatever editor though, I usually get bored before anything is even 20% done. I could probably post some pics of some unfinished stuff but I don't know where anything is as of now.

Maybe my fear of commitment comes from an experience with creating presets for winamps AVS visual music - response thing, I spent soooooo much damn time on that and then hard drive crash, probably half a year of obsessive work wasted, I'd hardly begun to release anything... I was so angry and I never got back to it.

My very first was called "The Think Tank". It was basically a ripped off bootcamp texture theme complete with a big pool of water in the middle housing a good weapon (hence crappy name). It got reviewed on Radium and got a nice review but a shitty mark for some reason. Radium was cool (the death of radium's map site really did dent the HL and TFC scenes as it was a central point for getting 3rd party maps) but you could tell he was pissed off by the amount of shitty maps he had to review before he jacked it all in. It's too bad his site is no longer hosted, some of the vitriolic remarks on his later reviews were uncomfortably amusing. I think my contribution sent him over the edge. He definitely didn't actually playtest it otherwise he would've noticed the lift buttons were the size of 50" rear-projection TVs.

I remember being chuffed to bits when some random guy emailed me to say he loved the map and I should make more.

I (un)fortunately cannot find any pictures :(

aww man don't talk about radium

That was my first gaming community I was involved in, I was so sad when it fell apart =/ I personally quit playing tfc for at least a year after it died. Also my friend moved to everquest for some ungodly reason.

I feel like every time I post here it's something depressing.
