PogoP
Can't believe there isn't a topic on this yet! Has anybody else been playing it? I bought it a few months back and thought it seemed pretty cool but thought it seemed far too out of my depth... However, I was reading some posts about it on Reddit the other day and it inspired me to stick at it. I have now spent pretty much the past 48 hours flying around the solar system, attempting to land on moons and planets. I'm hooked! This game is awesome, once you get to grips with it. Has anybody else been playing it? It's pretty spectacular when you make your first landing on your first moon/planet! I just landed on Duna which was a right bastard to do. Next step.. Gonna try building some sort of space station and start mining me some Kethane, yo. Sunset from Duna orbit: This guy's just chillin on Eve, stranded. He's probably gonna starve to death the poor bastard. FMPONE, KoKo5oVaR, AtsEst and 2 others
Minos
This game is awesome, it's even better now that they added a career mode. I still miss some kind of clearer guidance though, I wish the objectives were more clearly listed ingame Anyways, highly recommended, made me understand several space exploration concepts and maneuvers better! PogoP
Yeah I've been playing through career mode, it's actually quite challenging! Even getting into orbit is tricky in the beginning, and getting to the Mun. But yeah I think it's gonna kinda come to a bit of a slow down soon as I'm getting most of the good rocket parts. It's definitely really interesting learning more about space maneuvers, and concepts such as delta-v. I spent a couple of hours last night reading all about the first Apollo missions, and it makes more sense now that I've played Kerbal! I really hope this game inspires the next generation to get into the space industry -HP-
Pericolos0
man, I've been playing this all weekend. The learning curve sure is steep but the payoff is worth it. I love how the game has no real objectives other than "(try to) explore space", and the feeling of progression is entirely based on your own skill and the gradual improved understanding of orbital mechanics . LATTEH
I started playing it when it was still in the early stages the game is awesome! it has improved so much.

Warby
I love the name and the "theme" of the game also had this as a desktop background for a long while: *so classy* But i dont DARE to touch the game until there is a proper smooth game entry that teaches you the mechanics and RL physical concepts in a fun and friction-less way. *sofuckingwanttoplaythough* FMPONE
Pericolos0
there's career mode now where you dont start out with every rocket part unlocked, so you are kinda forced to start out with really simple rockets and work yourself up from there. Then just read some tutorials on the wiki on basic orbiting and you should be good to go
AtsEst
I'd say that the conic section is a good entry point, or if that is a bit too dry you can jump into orbital mechanics. Hmm, but maybe if you have trouble getting to orbit you should start by looking into momentum and playing around with the various mathematical representations of the systems.*Edit* On a more serious note the below post sums it up really nicely Edited June 5, 2014 by AtsEst
Pericolos0
the best way to get into kerbal is to just build a rocket and launch it. you will probably fail miserably at getting anywhere near space or orbit at first, but then you rebuild, make changes to you design and try again, over and over. That's the fun .. somewhere along the way you will get a better understanding of what you are actually doing and how to achieve your goal of orbit.. and beyond. At some point things will just click and all of a sudden you understand orbital dynamics through experimentation. Little steps! And lots of failed rocket contructions . And constructing different rocket designs is half the fun of kerbal. Many people who play the game don't even go to space, just build cool airplanes and weird rockets AtsEst and Minos
Pericolos0
refueling/science station! One lander just arrived back from the surface and is refueling for the next sortie, the other on just arrived from kerbal with a rover to be deployed on the surface . The landers double as orbital tugs so the can go anywhere in the kerbal system really if they take a fuel tank with them FMPONE
