Not a game per se, but I think some people might appreciate it: Posing a character in VR using UE. Rigging and all the hard lifting is handled by http://alexallright.com/allrightrig/

At that sate yes, but there are enemies in there now so it is more like a bullet hell now, planning to play around wit rogue like elements.
  3. The first Dishonored is one of my favorite games, really looking forward to this!
  4. The freaking watch face works....
  5. The new build of Mythos is now live on the Oculus Store! (it is under concepts so it is free) https://www2.oculus.com/experiences/app/1221236131237268/
  6. ... Ok, how many of you have actually tried the Vive or the Rift with Touch?
  7. Because that would get in the way of your hands which would be worse (unless it was an active robotic solution or a person moving it around all the time). It is much easier to just step over/around the wire than dealing with it in the air. They made it sound more of a problem than I have seen it to be in practice, though yes this varies fro person to person also be skeptical about anything technical that the GB guys say. The Lab is awesome though. And once more, seeing anything on screen does not give you any idea how it is actually to be inside the environment.

I ma testing a bunch of VR stuff and this is a excerpt from that (expect more info if it works out). Thus the sky actually has to be volumetric, but very performant. It is made using a subdived plane mesh with an unlit material with a perlin noise function for colors and displacement with an ad hoc translucency and lighting solution. Engine is UE4. And a build is up:
  9. Being able to stand up and "touch" things is pretty freaking incredible in VR I do not want to oversell it, but
  10. Have you tried CV1 with Touch or the Vive? Also trailers just suck for describing any vr experiences.

Long time no update, so her is one!
  12. it looks EXACTLY like Cryengine and I mean it actually freaking is Cryengine, but with full source... Which you mentioned, but that is so weird to me.
  13. I would not totally dismiss VR at this point if you have not properly tried any of the consumer devices in a chill environment, only if for financial reasons. But waiting till Summer to see how the dust settles might not be a bad idea at this time. Trying room scale VR was the first time my yaw actually hit the floor when experiencing VR. Said that, the Vive will probably be at least as expensive if not quite a bit more expensive than the Rift (and definitely require at least equally as fast of a PC). As deducted from yesterdays AmA with Luckey. On a different note... Yesterday I watched Pacific Rim in 3D for the first time on my personal IMax display, was pretty cool, I had not seen it on a big screen before at all. Though yes the resolution was somewhat of an issue (would not recommend trying this on a DK2). Today I tried CSGO on the same screen both in stereo and mono, went evenish on score AWPing using the latter. Apart from the lower resolution having a higher refresh rate than my 60Hz screens was pretty nice actually. Neat. Am I still hyped, yes! Am I biased, hell yeah!
  14. It is bad communication at their end, as they knew that the ballpark price range was going to be around this point for quite a while, I will say that. But considering all the stuff bundled and the fact that it is indeed being sold at max revenue of "at cost" it is not that bad. You spend upwards of 1000USD/EUR for your tv alone (or similar price of a rift for a high refresh rate monitor) and the Rift is so much more and can potentially do so much more. But yeah it will sadly be for enthusiasts for the very near future. it seems Oculus is banking a lot on good reviews and word of mouth to get their sales up, as the preorders do not lock you in to buying a unit. I would be very surprised if PSVR will be hacked to work with PC AND give out anywhere near decent experience let alone a good one. I have a pair of PS Move controllers on my desk and still have not been successful at pairing them with my PC even though they have been around for ages. But yeah chances are your buy in price will be ~500USD/EUR cheaper when investing in PS ecosystem from zero. No I am not thrilled, but I am not devastated either at this point. I am a dev though and for me it is a good sign that they have already sold out the March and April preorders, though some of them might be fraudulent trying to buy them in bulk and resell them.

    Star Wars

Not a huge SW nerd here (I do generally like Abrams work though) but I do appreciate the movies. This was my first IMax movie and I really liked it, both that is. I did notice a lot of an service, maybe not as much tension as I would have liked and yeah the plot was not very tight but it did not bother me that much. I was pretty hyped and got spoiled beforehand, but I guess I still did not have very high expectations. Actually I also liked the new leads quite a bit. Will likely go see it a second time, which is pretty rare for me, though lets see if I take a more critical look at it after that. And I am definitely looking forward to ep VIII after that. But maybe I am a hipster-hipster as it seems to be cool to hate mainstream things and I just want to be ahead of the curve. But I already know I do not have the perfect taste in movies, for liking Prometheus for example.
  16. This might have circulated through here and I do know actual maps of these exist, but it was a interesting for a casual like me so I thought I'd share it.
