Kosmo Posted July 11, 2005 Report Posted July 11, 2005 Banned in irc during a political discussion only proves my point that all people who use irc are fuckwads by default. Pretty sad if you're that narrowminded Ok, I can bend a bit, not ALL irc users are retards, but this kind of thing happens all too often, people tend to have certain.. let's just say urges to act extremely childishly and retarded in irc, even people who are reasonable upstanding people. There is something that just gets to peoples very soul in irc. I'm very open to all kind of political discussion, and people who can't stand other peoples opinions about this kind of subjects present immaturity and unintelligence. Same goes with issues about religion and sexuality (read. homosexuality).
Thrik Posted July 11, 2005 Report Posted July 11, 2005 That's probably because IRC is real time, and the people that use it tend to convey themselves more than they would on a forum. People tend to moderate themselves a bit more on forums, and you're not really seeing the real picture behind most people. What you're seeing on IRC is not people being warped by the evils of internet relay chat, but people not holding themselves back. Plus IRC has a lot of dickheads on it, which goes without saying for such a medium here no kind of registration or divulging of so much of an IP is necessary, allowing total anonymity. You just have to learn to ignore/ban those people, rather than banning regular guys like h2o! >
Kosmo Posted July 11, 2005 Report Posted July 11, 2005 What I'm most amazed in this particular situation is that, h2o was not askes to explain himself, nor was he asked to keep his opinions to himself (something I do not support tho) rather he was blindly banned in the first possible moment, I think that the OP was doing pretty bad job and should not even have his privelages, nor should he gain them back ever again. Maybe if the OP took time to simmer down and ask h2o about it, he would have found out that he was joking and would not have made an ass of himself (yes, saying someone made an ass of himself is harsh, but truth sometimes is harsh).

Why support an action if you do not support it? It's like Mazy killing a thousand kittens, even though he doesn't support it. Please Kosmo: quit talking out of your ass.

You are very confused little boy, and I hope you find somekind of peace through theraphy or something, maybe you should take some medicine or something, you are very offensive and you obviously have delucions that everything negative being said in these forums are somehow targetted towards you. If a man murders his family, an action I do not recommend, I still after the damage is done, really hope that he is incarserated for what he has done. It has nothing to do with me accepting actions he has done. Just like in this particular case, I do not support the actions of the Operator, but if he must do something, I gave some examples he could have done instead of just kicking and banning him my misguided friend.

Kosmo Posted July 11, 2005 Report Posted July 11, 2005 1. not the first time this has happened.. nor will it probably be the last... Doesn't mean it makes everything perfectly well, look, this is just the kind of thing I was talking about when I posted first "Banned in irc during a political discussion only proves my point that all people who use irc are fuckwads by default." People do this kind of shit without thinking, so once every while they should be able to take some heat because of it. 2. so for the 5+ years ive been in #mapcore.. i should have them removed for one ban? You said yourself that this has happened several times before and will continue, it is like a powerhungry cop admitting that he is corrupted by power and we just let it slide. 3. again, you never being in the channel... and getting 2 min of text really justifes you judging me? Not the text, but the action, that makes me able to judge you. I'm sorry if I'm just being honest, but I just can't comprehend the need of some people to just shut down everything when some conversation takes place where people talk something YOU don't agree on. And besides, h2o saying something that fucked up, you should have guessed that it was a joke, even if it was a bad one.
FrieChamp Posted July 11, 2005 Report Posted July 11, 2005 Why can't everybody be so wise and mature like Kosmo is?

People do this kind of shit without thinking, so once every while they should be able to take some heat because of it. 99.999% of the time i'm open to political disagrements and discussions... a few people will always just try to get a rise out of people.. and thats what he was doing.. You said yourself that this has happened several times before and will continue, it is like a powerhungry cop admitting that he is corrupted by power and we just let it slide. i was refering to his attempt and success at getting a reaction out of me.. he knew damn well what he was doing... Not the text, but the action, that makes me able to judge you. so one action out of 5 years? wow.. someone is high and mighty.. i guess you have never done something that you might have regret... I'm sorry if I'm just being honest, but I just can't comprehend the need of some people to just shut down everything when some conversation takes place where people talk something YOU don't agree on. And besides, h2o saying something that fucked up, you should have guessed that it was a joke, even if it was a bad one.like i said.. 99.999% of the time.. im a-okay with disagreements... i have my views and they have theirs... but i dont think you have the right to judge me without knowing the history behind what happened...
Kosmo Posted July 11, 2005 Report Posted July 11, 2005 99.999% of the time i'm open to political disagrements and discussions... a few people will always just try to get a rise out of people.. and thats what he was doing.. Yeah but I have been forum moderator and mod team leader and what not, and one thing in that kind of position is what you have to have much more than balls is patience, everyone think they are the funniest guy alive, and everyone has their own opinion, and everyone will still have it even after the kick and bann, fuck things change after the guy who does those sort of stuff gets a grip. I know that you know what I am talking about. i was refering to his attempt and success at getting a reaction out of me.. he knew damn well what he was doing... Yeah, and he just got that reaction, just made him happy there. so one action out of 5 years? wow.. someone is high and mighty.. i guess you have never done something that you might have regret... Not high and mighty, but if it was the other way around and h2o banned you, I'd still be here. I have done alot of things I regret, and I know I regret those things because someone made me regret them, just like we are doing right now. It's a circle. like i said.. 99.999% of the time.. im a-okay with disagreements... i have my views and they have theirs... but i dont think you have the right to judge me without knowing the history behind what happened... You are right, I don't have all the detail, but be real, would h2o have made a thread here if he was the one screwing things up, he would have kept his mouth shut. So we all just drop this thing and let it die now ok.

Zacker Posted July 11, 2005 Report Posted July 11, 2005 Urban clearly went over the line there. Good to see that most people agree with that. Kosmo, stop picking on Urban. Even though you are right, you should not keep on discussing a single ban. Urban, you did something wrong, which is just human, get over it. So uhm yeah, now flame me both of you and then everything is fine again-
D3ads Posted July 11, 2005 Report Posted July 11, 2005 Dont even get me started with d3, I have no idea why he has ever had ops. In all fairness dude, when was the last time you saw me kick anyone out of there? I'm hardly online these days!
