rockdude86
quake 3 for example with proper techniques used this would be running just fine im already making models of the more complex things and im still spicing up the details and if q3 wont be good enough then maybe hl2 will suffice
Belgarion
I know someone that would have an orgasm looking at all that round stuff umm.. that's me  i went to your site and looked at the other pics. actually, i really DO love this geo. Look at all the rounded goodness! i love rounded stuff.. it's so awesome, though HL usually tends to dissagree with me. But i guess that's why Q3 and patch meshes were invented. Those rule. if you do end up using Q3 for the engine, which i think is highly possible based on HL's lack of interest in high wpoly scenes, you should switch over to Gtk-Radiant 1.4.0 and use patch meshes. you can import the geometry first of course, but as far as i know Radiant is the only editor with mesh support, not to mention Gtk is just awesome as it is. And the meshes will look 10x better than using brushes. You can't go wrong with using meshes... i'll stop now.
zaphod
that wouldn't even run in hl2
rockdude86
in the state it is right now your right but like i said i still have to change a lot of things and am making models of the more complex things so i believe it will run. in reply to belgarion "patch meshes" means working with individual faces right? ive been dreaming about that for ages now tnx for the info

CrazyMAC
0_o *looks up at every one on about textures* you ppl are dumb he said he's working on them! its WIP after all *does wonder sometimes - adds ppl to urbans list*
Minos
looks real cool. The lack of smoothing will ruin the roundness tho if the textures are perfectly aligned they will look smoother. Use this trick to align them rockdude: http://www.snarkpit.com/editing.php?pag ... ials&id=
rockdude86
i already knew about this technique but never really used it so tnx man
D3adlode
Ooooh, curves!
Belgarion
... in reply to belgarion "patch meshes" means working with individual faces right?... mmm no.. better! You select the mesh as if it were a box, and size it as if it were a box, and Gtk will automatically proportionate all the faces of the mesh.. not to mention it perfectly aligns textures, which makes it positively perfect for pipes (or anythig you want curved for that matter). Example - That started out as a single long tube. Took maybe 25 seconds to get it where i liked it... look at its curved goodness!

GTK is a series of community-based upgrades and additions to id's standard Radiant editor. The basic functions are all the same, but GTK adds/changes enough that it can be a little frustrating for someone going from one to the other at first. I'd personally recommend sticking with the standard D3 editor for now; I've heard a few people complaining the D3 support in GTK 1.5 isn't quite up to par with the Quake 3 versions yet (but it'll defintely get better with more time). You definitely would love patch meshes judging by what you've got going in the screenshots here. You can do almost anything with them. Texturing isn't always perfect on the more complex stuff, but it's sure a hell of a lot easier than trying to apply textures on oddly aligned/shaped faces than in HL.
