If it's not on Twitter, it's happening someplace else. These individuals are slaves to their own egos, and the human ego will find its outlets. It's arguing for the sake of arguing - there's no point to it.

The r-301 rifle with light ammo deals 14/28 (body/headshot), full auto with high accuracy. The flatline, also a rifle, though heavy ammo, deals 16/32 full auto with less accuracy. As an example. It’s more about preference.

Guns are not tiered, they’re preference (and situational). Play with them and find some that you like. I mostly roll with the wingman pistol, longbow rifle and peacekeepe shotty. Attachments are tiered however and corresponds to the same color coding as skins. White < Blue < Purple < Yellow. When you tag a blue armor for instance, the voice line goes ”armor here, level 2”. I don’t think it’s complicated, it’s basically Quake 3 pickups on steroids with all the attachments, that you learn the depth of over a few hours of gameplay.

That’s just amazing looking, @[HP]

Weapons and ammo are color coded. If you have a teal weapon icon in your inventory, you need teal ammo, etc.

How to break in the games industry - an insiders' guide
grapen replied to Furyo's topic in Creative Chat
To anyone reading this two years later. The switch was 110% worth it. -
Seems OK so far (I’m not that far in yet). Nothing amazing. But it’s the best Final Fantasy since 2001 which is depressing. I watched the optional ”story-so-far” cutscenes, and I still can’t make much sense if the convoluted story. But it doesn’t really matter, it’s good guys vs bad guys, and combat is kind of enjoyable.

I’m all for healthy competition as long as the platform(s) can deliver on QoL features that are important to me, such as cloud saves and automagic usb controller input support. Steam is very refined in that regard. I’m not sure I understand what the supposed price reduction was about? Is that a US exclusive? Because it’s still €60 in Europe, so why put that in the PR. ?

Great job Radu and everyone that contributed!

Demo? Love that they’re going full on retro.

My one goal for 2019 is to continue working on my own game, and have a preview trailer up before it’s over.
-
Switching engines somewhere along the way, I would guess. Scrapped work and hundreds of people that needs training in the new tools.

The texture scale should be 0.125 for these. Also try cranking up the ambient lighting, the shadows are looking very dark. Keep it up!

That’s much better than someone starting with an obvious 6-12 month advantage. That’s not really much of a contest anyway. Most of us won’t be doing this full time, so we’re already behind the curve, though there’s obviously nothing to be done about that, it is what it is.
-
Well, I sure don’t have a graybox, and I don’t need to tell anyone here that making one can take a long time unless you skip playtesting entirely. In a contest that spans six months that’s a huge advantage. I would much rather see fresh maps only, and if someone cheats then that’s on their conscience.
-
No the previous ruling was very ambiguous, see my reply to Ornatebaboon uo there ^. Some entries had been in production for more than six months last time.
-
Disappointed to hear that. Who’s doing the voting? Because seems to me like a majority of people in this thread wants to see fresh maps, for the spirit of competition. Makes me think the agenda here is something different entirely.
-
This ruling was terrible in the previous contest. It read: Maps that were under creation prior to the announcement of this Contest can be entered, as long as a complete map version (layout and art) has not been released for public download. If that's not a half measure I don't know what is. Where do you draw the line and how is it fair? It was very sketchy. Imo the obvious answer is to not allow maps (a vmf) that was under construction prior to the contest. You'd have to assume most people will be honest with their submission.
-
I like this idea a lot. Contest length could be even shorter and smaller teams won't be so much of an issue. Then again you have the problem of funding for the contest since I'm sure faceit wants polished end products for their service. This doesn't bother me personally as I wouldn't mind a short contest without a cash prize. I think it's an interesting idea worth spinning.
-
No half measures this time, please. Let’s keep it simple. VMF’s, even grayboxes should be fresh as of the contest announcement. Everyone can join so long as they’re not a judge. Six months deadline, no delays what so ever.

Genuinely curious how Diablo will be retconned since he’s exiled from Sanctuary during the time period of the game. ?
-
No doubt about it game comes out tomorrow, but the general interest seem less than mild? Gonna keep my eyes on it for now.

It is what it is, and it makes sense from a financial (hesitant to say business..) perspective I suppose. I will ackowledge that there are good mobile games out there, but I don’t have any room for them in my life. They’re for the most part just another distraction, much like social media. Always there when you don’t need them.

Now that the game is free for all battle.net users I’ll give it a go. Hmu if anyone else is starting fresh!
