Fletch Posted November 5, 2004 Report Posted November 5, 2004 In that third pic with the little spans of grass next to the stairs: who the hell would be mowing or clearing that area. Add some bushes/debree/tall grass in those areas for a little detailing spice. the arch: move the double arch structure higher up so the flat line lines up with the bottom of the triangular spires, that way the whole thing fuctions as one continual flourish (triangle, upper arch, traingle) nitty pitcky thing: whoe the fuck leaves giant crates and barrels out by the street? yeah, i know it's CS, a world full of crates at office buildings, desert compounds, and military instalations, but how about a tiny reason why they should be there. If it's a back alley where these shops would honestly be storing things, that's one thing. But if it's a street, break them down to smaller boxes/pots/barrels that human beings could actually use and stack (seriously, how many 8 foot x 8 foot x 8 foot boxes do you run across in normal life) and add little storefront doors or shit next to them to give them some sort of logical placement. PhilipK Posted November 5, 2004 Author Report Posted November 5, 2004 nice ideas and all. but I cant afford anything thats more complex than crates there. Its still just HL we are talking about :\ Quote
kleinluka Posted November 5, 2004 Report Posted November 5, 2004 um blaz. ever heard of the word model? Quote
-Stratesiz- Posted November 5, 2004 Report Posted November 5, 2004 I still think the colors look too washed out. It makes it look flat no matter how detailed or how complex the brushwork is. Red is red, not sandy brown with a hint of red and so on. There should be more white wall surfaces in contrast to the sandy brown. Also the buildings in the third pic don't really fit in as the architectural style is different. The structure looks more like a castle with the peaky towers. Quote
PhilipK Posted November 5, 2004 Author Report Posted November 5, 2004 blah. Well. This is facts now: Im tired of working on this piece of shit. SO: I wont edit ANY textures making them more colorful. I wont make ANY more models for it. I just want it to be done now. Yes, I am lazy =) Quote
PhilipK Posted November 5, 2004 Author Report Posted November 5, 2004 I changed the pitch. so now we got long shadows. Some palms got totally fucked up now. but ill fix that. they are way to dark in places. Quote
lillbrorsan Posted November 5, 2004 Report Posted November 5, 2004 Reall nice work there PhilipK! Quote
Marcos Posted November 5, 2004 Report Posted November 5, 2004 In my eyes this map is pretty much as perfect as a HL map could be! The map looks "dead" ? Nah I wouldn't say so. If there was an Terrorist riot in my town, I'll probbly wouldnt stay in town or pretend that evrything was normal. I think this town look like it was abbandon in a rush, I like that! Your texutre, brushwork and lighting quality is pro as allways~ And the grass made a nice effect Quote
Fletch Posted November 5, 2004 Report Posted November 5, 2004 okay, i'll stop with my nitpicking, it's full on sexah now. Quote
Fruchtzwerg Posted November 5, 2004 Report Posted November 5, 2004 I dont like the new grass. How can green grass exist on dry sand? Quote
GrayFox Posted November 5, 2004 Report Posted November 5, 2004 I dont like the new grass. How can green grass exist on dry sand? Oh, it can... (maybe not the best picture of desert grass but still) Quote
Fruchtzwerg Posted November 5, 2004 Report Posted November 5, 2004 Your picture isnt on dry sand, there is water around, thats what grass needs. I would recommend to remove the grass from halla. Quote
Marcos Posted November 5, 2004 Report Posted November 5, 2004 I dont like the new grass. How can green grass exist on dry sand? Well looks like you should know because it looks like you are pretty much into "grass" yourself (your site) Anyway, back to topic: The grass should stay imo Quote
-Stratesiz- Posted November 5, 2004 Report Posted November 5, 2004 The grass looks good and it adds more contrast. ~~ /me hugs blaz Keep it up! Quote
kleinluka Posted November 6, 2004 Report Posted November 6, 2004 lets not turn this into a gardening discussion. the new pics look a lot better blaz. nice work! Quote
