KoKo5oVaR Posted August 25, 2005 Report Posted August 25, 2005 hey guys! i've done a small and quick tutorial about my method to make rocks in 3dsmax7. http://kokosovar.free.fr/3d/rocktutorial/rockstutorial.php Hope that will be usefull for someone, if you can deal with my approxiative english. :banjo: Quote
Evert Posted August 25, 2005 Report Posted August 25, 2005 It will probably come in handy for some people, short and sweet one. Quote
NRG Posted August 25, 2005 Report Posted August 25, 2005 Niffty neat little trick! I like it! Of course, you can also use the MultiRez modifier in place of optimize.. (they both seem to do basically the same thing). What I like about MultiRez is that you can "lock down" selected verts so that they 'try' to retain shape while the rest go to hell in a hand basket This is good for retaining the base of the rocks for example (if you required the base to somewhat maintain itself). But neat little trick non the less! Good show! Cheers, NRG Quote
skdr Posted August 25, 2005 Report Posted August 25, 2005 Good stuff mate! now write uv map wrapping tutorial Quote
Zazi Posted August 25, 2005 Report Posted August 25, 2005 Not exactly how I create rocks, but hey, it still works! Quote
Mazy Posted August 25, 2005 Report Posted August 25, 2005 hehe yeah, best way to do rocks is to just go totally mental n flip the verticies all over the place ~~~prrr Quote
KoKo5oVaR Posted August 25, 2005 Author Report Posted August 25, 2005 Wow the uvmap wrapping, that's another story I guess the faster and less crappy method will be a uvbox, if not, you can use the planarmapping in the uvwrap modifier on each faces, and after that, weld the faces together (but it's way too looong -_-, and needs a video tutorial) Quote
st0lve Posted August 25, 2005 Report Posted August 25, 2005 now write uv map wrapping tutorial http://www.st0lve.net/files/ank-uv-video.zip http://www.bullet-head.net/vtms/uvmapping%20tut.rar All you need. 2 very good and very different techniques, both are great. Quote
