  1. started playing around with substance as well, this is my 2nd attempt at some generic ground tiles, first one was garbage.
  2. I just read the article and it basically says that demon's souls is better than dark souls, and he's probably right. Same goes for dks2 and 3, I personally think the third one was the weakest of the series.
  3. How is there little feedback when moving or attacking? each weapon type has different animations, you can actually feel the weight of a giant sword the way you swing at enemies. And wearing heavy armor without enough endurance makes you slow and fat roll. I'm gonna assume you haven't killed capra demon yet. Which also means you're in the beginning of the game and have seen very little of it. Yes it does get better later imo. The messaging system and blood stains are there to show you there are other people suffering as much as you, so you won't get discouraged. And for occasional help or trolling. It's a big part of the game. The game wants you to explore the world, it won't throw anything into your face other than enemies and environmental hazards. It's why it's called prepare to die. Some people enjoy it, others don't. I guess I'm one of those people, because dark souls for me is one of the greatest games I've played in recent years. There's zero hand holding and I wish more games incorporated similar multiplayer mechanics(single player - but not quite).
  4. I asked them specifically about using modo for modeling + UV but they insisted to use maya only because of their inhouse tools. I know it's still a pretty shitty reason not to use modo for modeling, but whatevs.
  5. found a small outsourcing company nearby, decided to give it a shot and I just received my art test. It's simple stuff, but they want me to use maya.. after 6+ years of using modo. It feels sooo clumsy modo master race
  6. oh man, that sucks it's the worst thing about owning a dog, or any pet really. my dog died last year, he was 21 years old. He had a runny nose for a few weeks before he passed away, is that why your dog is lying on that sheet? curious if it's a common thing for older dogs.
  7. nice, make it into a flamethrower and throw waves of nasty spiders at the player, that would be the most satisfying VR game ever
  8. try google sketchup? pretty sure you can use it to build a level for csgo. It's probably a good option if you have never touched hammer before, although I suggest getting used to hammer, there's a reason why people love its brush manipulation.
  9. you can pick an existing theme and do it better, or worse, it's all about the execution anyway. and when it comes to csgo I don't see how it feels constrained in any way, plenty of people here on the forums are pushing the boundaries of what's possible in csgo with their creativity. Just have a look at some of the recently released maps. and why do you care so much about what people say about the map? just try to enjoy the process, you can't please everyone.

    spam(update) time we're seriously struggling with art direction in some parts of the map and we feel like we just can't get it right. I personally think we've made a huge visual mess. bear in mind that it's still wip, there's no 3d skybox and we haven't really done any proper detailing in many parts, we're just trying to get things to look nice and readable first. feedback is highly appreciated. and some more polished stuff

  12. this reddit post proves there's no multiplayer, the game will just sync the named planets and other discoveries.
  13. not a veteran here, but I don't think you will achieve stunning graphics with programming. and ue4/unity is a no brainer unless you wanna lose all your hair by writing an engine from scratch. but if low level graphics programming is your thing then go for it.

    the game is simply too generic and uninteresting. I don't get it. it's like they ticked every point on a "generic shooter" check list. it's a shame because I really tried to like it.
  18. running around with bots is rather useless so I can't really comment on the gameplay, but I really like the look of the layout, seems fresh. you should schedule a playtest if you haven't playtested yet.

    well yeah obviously you need to hit your allies to heal them although hitboxes aren't perfect, you can miss a few inches and it still registers

    she has the best heal burst, 75 shot, 100 aoe grenade + 100% healing from other sources she also hits pretty hard, 80 isn't bad at all oh and zen has turned into a god, massive difference.
  25. I wouldn't worry about that, eyeballing is perfectly fine imo
