Duff-e Posted October 22, 2007 Report Posted October 22, 2007 HELLOOOOOOOOOOO mapcore Since mapcore is such an international group I was wondering what you guys would think about a kind of foreign exchange type deal. I realize I've been out of the mapcore loop for a long time now (not to say I was ever in the loop) but perhaps between trustworthy members, provided some assurances, it would be an interesting idea. I currently live in NYC and am looking into getting an apartment with a couple friends who wouldn't mind hosting people for a week or two at a time. You would have to chip in for food and what not during your stay but you would be pretty much guaranteed a good time since we know most of the tourist destinations and can cut through the expensive bullshit and take you right to the fun. I know there are a lot of things that need to be expanded upon in order to make this feasible, but I would have no problem working out itineraries with people who might be interested. So with that said, anyone interested? Quote
Bic-B@ll Posted October 22, 2007 Report Posted October 22, 2007 i think it would be badass, but as far as im concerned it would never happen because im a bum. if i ever do happen to go to europe for whatever reason im hitting everyone up along my path Quote
D3ads Posted October 22, 2007 Report Posted October 22, 2007 Shit, I really would love to goto the US at some point (and obviously enough New York is on my list of places to visit) but it's not a good time as I have a lot of commitments here and I would have to dip into savings to cover the costs, a real shame as this sounds just the sort of thing I would be looking for. On the other hand, you might be somewhat relieved about not having to live with a 'Goth' however long. Awesome idea btw, I'm sure there will be plenty of people here interested anyhow! Quote
⌐■_■ Posted October 22, 2007 Report Posted October 22, 2007 anyone in need of a place to spend the night/couple of days is welcome at my place. just let me know in time. Quote
Duff-e Posted October 22, 2007 Author Report Posted October 22, 2007 the situation for me is pretty laid back since I live with 3 friends all between 20-25...and we're not slobs but we're not exactly anal either. but yeah half the fun for me would be showing someone nyc cause I'm kind of a nyc whore and of all the places I've been to I always like coming back cause theres nothing like it that I've seen so far. dux Posted October 22, 2007 Report Posted October 22, 2007 Man I'd love to go to NYC someday It just looks so awesome on TV Quote

FrieChamp Posted October 22, 2007 Report Posted October 22, 2007 I think that idea is totally rad, wb Duffy! I've been to the US 3 times and once to Canada, but I've never been to NYC, so this sounds kinda intriguing. Especially around christmas and new year's eve...on the other hand I'm also a poor student bum now and should probably manage my money a little better...I will get back to you (hopefully hessi doesn't read this, I'm still supposed to visit him in Cologne ) Edit: Anybody else from Europe interested to do this? I'm thinking of the Scandinavian folks around here, I've never been to Denmark or Sweden! Quote
Zacker Posted October 22, 2007 Report Posted October 22, 2007 I think it sounds like a cool idea! I guess I would only do it with Mapcore regulars who I knew well though. Quote
Bic-B@ll Posted October 22, 2007 Report Posted October 22, 2007 maybe ill take the train into the city one day and hang out with duffy what are these cool places you like to visit? Quote
Duff-e Posted October 22, 2007 Author Report Posted October 22, 2007 haha you definitely should. we go all over the place...astoria, williamsburg, west 4th street mostly bars and stuff...me and my friends are all internet literate so you would probably have no problem getting along with them. one of them is on mapcore every now and then too...danielaragon are you in college on LI? Quote
Bic-B@ll Posted October 22, 2007 Report Posted October 22, 2007 i never really hang in teh ircs though. and im 19 so bars could be an issue. i go into the city once and a while but its usually somewhat touristy stuff we do when relatives come up. my dad works in times square and ive taken the train to penn and walked there to meet him and we went to the soho area to eat in some restaurants and the like. im not too big on the city for any particular reason. Quote
Duff-e Posted October 22, 2007 Author Report Posted October 22, 2007 thats fine cause I just turned 20...most of the bars we go to don't card. what we usually do is if we manage to get into a bar without ID by bullshitting we buy the bouncer a shot so he remembers us and we always get in. but yeah there are a bunch of cool places. he works in times square? nice...what does he do? Quote
e-freak Posted October 22, 2007 Report Posted October 22, 2007 20 years old and they won't let you in the bar? holy shit - in germany you can go into everything at the age of 16, most bars even at 12 (allthough alcohol is 16 so you would not be able to purchase anything then) Quote
Vinny Testaverde Posted October 22, 2007 Report Posted October 22, 2007 I'm in NYC everyday... Mainly Soho, uptown, and 34th street area. my school is by Columbus circle I live on LI like bic and yes I would do a foreign exchange, I love Europe and would like to meet people there and so forth. So yall are welcome here. ( and yes America is just as crazy about foreskins as we are about alchol consumption, remember we had prohibition in the 20s, yea that 21 thing is leftover from that. In fact NYC is the most easy going place I have been as far as that goes. Other cities, they id EVERYBODY at the door of the bars) Quote
