Grinwhrl Posted August 23, 2011 Report Posted August 23, 2011 i was never a fan of cover based shooters WITHOUT any secondary game type (i.e. halo, killzone, resistance etc) in teh first place, i want to know if it's more than that with customizable colors Its not a cover based shooter. Quote

EDIT: read arthurt's post on the last page, so it's more like madworld? i mean can i get a definitive answer from someone who's actually played it? Quote
dux Posted August 23, 2011 Report Posted August 23, 2011 Why do so many people think it is a cover based shooter? Where are you getting this from Quote
arhurt Posted August 23, 2011 Author Report Posted August 23, 2011 I can only speak from the demo, but it felt like a God of War with guns (for both you and your foes) and a 3rd person follow camera. Enemies are numerous and combat is quite frenetic. Please refer to the demo videos below. I've skipped the intro, story cinematics and jump right into action. Combat: http://youtu.be/atWwJ8J3ciU?t=2m35s Jump pack http://youtu.be/c4tUdt6g38o?t=47s Edit: I've watched Madworld gameplay videos and, from what I can tell, Madworld is slower paced with more emphasis on the killing blows and different wiimote motions. In Space marine executing enemies is just a mini cutscene with a few of them having quick time events (such as executing the Big ork with a chainsaw requiring you to press the attack button as quickly as possible). So I don't believe Madworld would be the best reference. Quote
Grinwhrl Posted August 23, 2011 Report Posted August 23, 2011 I just played the demo. Amazing game, and very smooth with the amount of enemies on screen at one time. Its not like God of war and its not like gears. Its better then both of them. Feels like a brawler/shooter in one. Sentura watch this video. It will give u all the details. http://www.blisteredthumbs.net/2011/08/ ... rine-demo/ Quote
Sentura Posted August 23, 2011 Report Posted August 23, 2011 my god does he get a nerdgasm 2/3rds into the video or what is wrong with him i see now what you mean with it being a brawler, but if it's just shooting, then cleaving, repeat, it's probably going the one sided gameplay way. as in, it will just be brawling/shooting. arhurt Posted August 23, 2011 Author Report Posted August 23, 2011 Despite the fact that this game will most likely only allow you to shoot (with a bolter, Heavy bolter, plasma gun, plasma cannon, lascannon, sniper bolter, vengeance cannon, bolt pistol) and will only let you cleave (chainsword, power axe, thunderhammer, combat knife) and then you have to repeat it (without a jump pack, with a jump pack, against orks, then chaos cultists, then chaos marines, then chaos demons) along the levels (mostly brown and grey.... and bright blue, orange, green, red, purple, yellow)... I still am looking forward to it, especially if becomes mildly popular and I can finally impress others with the sheer ammount of information I have on the lore of the franchise. I'm sorry you cannot be entertained by just that. But its still a cool action game and that's what matters Quote
Sentura Posted August 23, 2011 Report Posted August 23, 2011 i'd still say it's above killzone/halo/resistance/gears. i mean those are cover based only, this at least has the brawling aspect, but i'm just wondering how long itll take before the executions get old. Quote

They give u the tools and its loads of fun. The mission structures change up the pace. From what I have seen there will be a lot of cool stuff. Quote
arhurt Posted August 24, 2011 Author Report Posted August 24, 2011 Yeah. The 40K fan in me wants so bad for it to be good, but I have to wait for the full game to see if the level design holds the game up from repetition. But I trust my relics (despite this being their first action title). Anyway... gonna play Deus Ex now =P Quote
Grinwhrl Posted August 24, 2011 Report Posted August 24, 2011 Demo is out for everyone now! Edit. On Steam Quote
dux Posted August 24, 2011 Report Posted August 24, 2011 THQ fucked it up I had to go searching how to get it. They consider the UK not part of the world or something, have to do some fancy bollocks to get it to work. Ugh. Quote
