Minos
Here are some drawings I made when I was in the beach in december/january (had nothing better to do so I bought a notebook and a pencil ). Since I dont have a scanner I took the photos with the cam, and hence the loss of quality. Can't wait to scan them and paint in photoshop =) Here we go: The first one is my vision of the sprawl (the neuromancer megacity that covers a huge part of the USA). I had no idea on what to draw this day, and then I flipped through a pile of newspaper and found this cool Torino, then I took it as reference and drew this: The next one is sort of an anti-smoking ad, my grandpa was smoking near me and he pissed me off so I drew this: There might be some obvious issues, like fucked up perspective in some spots, but the last time I had drawn was like 6 months before those, so I was kinda rusty. I'm very proud of them though

Minos
I created the fucking folder and it works fine here. Anyway, I uploaded them to photobucket so it should work now.
DaanO
In the first picture the perspective seems to be just a bit off, but it looks kinda neat. I like the setting. Some stronger contrasts would give the drawing the wow effect i think. Same for the second drawing (perspective of the side window of the car is strange). What i really like in the second drawing is how relatively few lines make a cool picture alltogether. Third drawing is a bit too simple for my liking. Overall, try adding some contrasts, more like in the second picture. Good stuff though, try creating a map from these!
Minos
Thanks for the tips daan, but what u mean with more contrast ? Strong lines, like in the second drawing ? I was gonna try to paint the first one in photoshop, that's why I didn't add shit like "distance fog" and other stuff like that. It's also an map idea I have, dunno if I'll ever make it though. DaanO
Well, i just find that after a while all these smaller pencil drawings start to look alike, you need to make them stand out. The second picture, when i look at it, i actually see it. There aren't as many lines, and those you put in, are right where they should be, they're good strong lines. That's what makes it stand out. By contrast i mean you could use hatching to make some shadows, some darker parts. http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y84/da ... wing24.jpg That picture explains what i mean. Give the viewer a point to look at instead of making the drawing a maze of lines. Like in maps, good shadowwork gives everything a much more impressive look. ginsengavenger
good. I think what you need to start focusing on when you draw is the shading and rendering---that's what will make a drawing come to life. What you're doing with these is looking at the shapes and drawing only their outlines, when in reality nothing is actually outlined; things are defined by their interactions with light. *on preview: what daan said. and daan: the scribbling makes it look rushed and crude. when you want to hatch, use a felt tip and patiently draw each line
DaanO
Hehe yeah that drawing is from a while ago. I agree although the rush feel as you call it has it's charms. It gives it all a more lively look i think. I think that if you're aware of every line you draw when hatching, drawings get that constructed and un-spontaneous look which i don't like. Shouldn't be like this though, i agree.
hamst3r
Well the first one is very creative but, like daan said, it would look alot better with more contrast, some of the details just seem to fade. i really like the second one, even tho the perspective is pretty wak. the third one is my least favorite. it is lacking detail, is very open, and looks very rushed. overall tho: <
