You dont. You define it as translucent in the VMT files with $translucent "1". The VTF is just the bitmap data for the texture, the VMT set-ups the shader and how it's meant to be rendered.

I don't allow hot-linking on my site Go to the original article on Texturehub instead. http://texturehub.net/forum/viewthread. ... read_id=80

Glad you find them useful And yes, Vista is a royal pain in the arse. If you think just using it is bad you should try programming for it...

Did you put $mostlyopaque in your QC file? That usually tells the engine that you model has translucent parts and I *believe* makes the engine do what hessi describe, i.e. render the transparent parts first and then the solid parts after which should help with the z-order problems.

I think DuDv is something to do with wave trasformation over time in two axis. edit: lol http://www.dudv.com/

All I see is higher-res photo-textures with Crysis. Is that it? Is that what makes them more realistic? Still not quite in the uncanny valley yet.

I looked at the source of the page and what stood out was this line: <script language='Javascript' type='text/javascript' src='grbzv.js'></script> Which is being inserted (with varying filenames) directly after the body tag. So it's obviously an injection. If I had to hazard a guess, I'd say someone is getting into your site via a cpanel exploit and possibly editing you PHPBB template. Check was admin software and version your host gives you then go check the web and see if its the latest version. Chances are that its some 10th peer pyramid host who's never updated their software. The HaJ site gote hacked a while back because of a similar exploit.

What in the name of Kip F*ckington. I'm getting it now with Firefox.

Just letting folks now, I've made an update to my 3DS Max 9/2008 SMD Export plug-in. I've added support for HL1 format SMDs and a crude but functional batch-mode which you can call from Maxscript. I've also fixed an irritating bug with Export Selected not working if you only want to export part of a bone chain and don't include its root/parent bone. SMD Importer is still WIP but no ETA as it's very much a freetime project of which I don't have much of.

God bless steam and it's stupid dependacies...
-
Goes without saying. As it's just a wrapper around the command line compiler you still need steam running for it to work
-
Just a heads up for those of you who might use it. I've updated my GUIStudioMDL2 tool too add dual-support for the EP1 and Orangebox SDK compilers. You can seamlessly switch between them as needed without any restarts or hacks and compile QCs as needed. For those of you who don't know of GUIStudioMDL2, it's a "wrapper" around the command line model compilers from the SDK. It doesn't replace the compilers, it simply gives you a nice Windows application you can use to compile your models without having to mess around with the command line tools. Download

Rendering->Effects->Effects Tab->Add... Add blur then scroll down and go to the Blur Parameters rollout and set blur only to work on Luminance. Set Brightness to 100%, Blend to 60%, Min 60%, Max 100% and Feather Radius to 100%. Go from there. Use the "Update Effect" to update the effect whenever you change a value.

Isn't OpenGL also just an implementation rather than a hardware "need"? I remember *ages* ago reading a comparison of DX vs GL and it saying that DX is just a hardware API, whereas GL us a rendering system which *may* be hardware accelerated. I think thats why GL is more portable over DX.
-
Funny actually. I was talking to one of the guys at Valve who looks after VTF format and we were discussing the specific DX10 formats it supports. He said that while the library supports the format, Valve don't actually save any of their textures in DX10 format simply because not enough cards support them and not enough users have them.

Actually I thought SVG was a better idea too but I guess more people are familiar with SWF.
