  1. Thor stole it.
  2. And make it 8 players rather than 10. Just to hedge bandwidth bets.
  3. The boat was chopped because it was part of a completely alternate storyline, in which Gordon sails to C17, with the ship being beset by Combine forces during the trip. The docks was just a proof-of-concept, along with all the stuff you saw during E3 2003. The Gamespot 'Making Of HL2' article goes into much greater detail.
  4. They're adding both the crowbar and the stunstick (which wasn't in HL2 as a weapon) to HL2DM though.
  5. In regards to the trees, I reckon you could get away with 3d props in front of that 2d composite performance-wise. It would just look a whole lot better. Also, you need to clip off a certain height, cause players can get up there and cause mischief.
  6. Just had a blast on it; great fun and a great start, but there's a long way to go in polishing up this beast.
  7. ai_relationship. You have to tell the AI to hate the player.
  8. For the last time, remaking an existing map invalidates your entry into the contest. They must be original! Anyhoo, it's a saucy remake, only critique I can give is that some of the lights seem a little too intense and washed out, but I guess it's early days on that front.
  9. He can't enter it into the Valve comp. because it isn't an original entry.
  10. Thumbs up. Oh, and the large plank is staple Bounce, it can't be changed!
  11. Still, I would prefer a map that cuts back on the randomly strewn physics objects and goes back to HL1 DM roots, which is what I plan on doing.
  12. I think the fullbright, Godforsaken map doesn't help.
  13. What's 'ArtRage'? Looks nice, by the way.
  14. Damn 3000 miles sitting in my way...
  15. I don't know about max. team members, but no custom audio/visual content is allowed. Both a blessing and a curse, really.
  16. $5000, baby. $3000 for runners-up.
  17. Citadel sounds good to me. I had the idea of putting those Combine devices that strip you of weapons to good use. Perhaps you have to face a gauntlet of them, losing your weapons but at the end is a RPG or something equally powerful to go wild with. Oh, and an alternative one-way exit so you don't have to lose it again.
  18. I've already signed up on my own, no group name, but this was before I saw all the Mapcore stuff, so hopefully they'll be no problem in joining a group using my current SteamID.
  19. You know where the whole team has to sign their signatures? How are a team hundreds of miles apart going to manage that, unless I'm being silly and it just means a typed signature? Anyhoo, I've decided it would be stupid to go lone-star on this; two heads are better than one etc. and with Mapcore's surplus amount of talent, we can't lose. Now we just need to work out the teams.
  20. I'm definitely in, but Christ, why can't we email the finished product? Air mail is going to be expensive for us Europeans...
  21. Reminds me of Silent Hill 3, only less evil.
  22. No it's not. It's the cat's pajamas. Sorry, my lingo is stuck firmly in the 50s.

    Half-Life 2

More things like that would have been nice, but that isn't to say they don't exist in HL2. The bit where you have to use debris to cross the dangerous sand gives the player tons of choice, and it's the physics that not only allow this to happen, but also make the world seem much more 'fully functional' that HL1 could ever manage.
  24. Or co-op? The pic looks like Citizens vs Combine. Either way, it's the fucking bee's knees.
