New day new screen the houses upfront were about the last I had to "dress up" now its time to do all those litle things i saved for last because i hate doing them aka, adding wires to them poles, clipping off the litle hills, and adding the flags etc I'm sure ill add abit more detail along the way though

DoD_Breugel last steps before beta, the layout is finished and all the basic brushwork is done, right now its just filling in the last details and debugging, I expect to have the first beta done hopefully this week. afther its in testing and gameplay is solid ill shift focus to replacing some of the statics with custom content

exactly, but unfortunatly big companies, dont have the same policy, they just hire, hire, hire sometimes it seems like everyones welcome, seriously I had a dude working with me who's previous work was security agent, he didnt have anything with games besides the ocisional time he played them, the guy was incharge of the leveldesign, making the most insane dicisions, and when i commented him on perhaps how to improve it he prety much wanted to beat me up outside, now this is a very extreme example, but it is true, did the guy get fired? nope relocated to a diffrent map because they simply need all the people. like i said before not every noob is bad we've all been a noob once, its just the ones that dont give a rat shit about what theyre doing, and unfortunalty their numbers are growing.

some tips from another forum, When you install it, where it prompts you to install the AEGIA PhysX drivers, DONT!!. This is a common tip that I gleaned from a few GR forums. They will cause your framerate, even on fairly high end systems, to plummet and the game runs terribly. If you have installed them and are having problems running a smooth game, uninstall them. Trust me on this one. Nvidia users: Upgrade to the latest FORCEWARE DRIVERS. The 84.43's. These two steps alone, will give a HUGE performance boost. If you are getting a black screen possibly coupled with getting dumped back to the desktop upon starting the game, go into your systems firewall settings and select "New allowed application" and look for GRAW.exe in the GRAW folder and allow it to access the net. Same thing happened with SWAT 4, some of you may recall. havent tried it but it sounds logical

I agree, motivation is everything, and there are those that learn want to learn and are greatful and love it, my words are more aimed towards those that go do their job like its any other and lack that motivation and passion to discover and improve themselfs, unfortunatly thats what comes with this huge need for bigger teams, not just leveldesigners. ofcourse its not everyone I can see that around me aswell. but logically you cant deny that you'll be more likely to find that motivation with someone that came from a mod comunity like this one or any other that said, I wasnt reffering to you ofcourse, or ment it to be personal

what their saying is mostlikly bs, and i could fill in why but theres no need. it looks great gj gb

i guess sad enough this is true, not to piss on anyone because everyone has the start somewhere, however i think that were starting to see with the new generation of games, and bugets/teams that come with it that big companies are just trying to fill up all the empty spots, and rely on the experienced people and leads to bring it together, who are heavly out numbered by the fast amount of new people that are either straight from a college they didnt even finish or picked out off the crowd of people that made one or 2 maps in their lives, which is logical but not always easy to have people make decisions on gameplay but dont really understand the mechanics of it,were in small companies, experience is desired for their future will often depand on the title.

funny as this gona sound, i got it at work and it runs badly on my work pc, which is oviously a prety good above average machine , so people on my team tryed it aswell, but have the same thing its just unplayable, im hoping its just the demo? i put everything on low and still nothing, may i sugested if its not something with the demo to atleast allow people to turn off AA, right now you cant but i suspect it could save people some frames about the game itself, besides the stuttering and almost none exsisting fps, it felt really cool, moving up the streets team mates respond well and easy although sometimes they act like idiots and dont take cover when they should, car system is oviously briliant best ever! the heli ride in the demo is long and boring cant really see much through the windows, but then again the drop on that big fat rope add's alot, really has the black hawk down feeling, except you drop in some quiet courtyard, all in all, i dig it the graphics are good, it feels right, and cool. just the fps 0_o

Yeah you have to be working in the industry or be a member of the press and at least 18 to get in (except if you're Holeman) holly was smuggled in heheh but yeh you have to be 18 + indus pro or press and we had to get Izuno to tell em to let us pass, mojo and me gewd times, i stayed at the same hotel as the guys and girl ^_^ from stalker jezus that was back in 2003, i remeber there were huge line ups to play bf1942 secret weapons, WoW i think, im not going this year though, maybe next

agree, unreal is very "user friendly" source and im sure cry engine is very "hardcore" and judging from the huge amount of studio's that licenced the unreal engine i think for now theyre in the lead, with devteams growing and costs, becoming closer to movie productions, user friendlyness and suport seem to be almost more important than graphics since there's already a good amount of engines that can do similair things to that extend, in the end its always about money anyway source is not all that easy on the dev. having worked with it i know that shaders are hard to manage, hell even importing a model is a way to long process compaired to other engines back on topic, being a dutch person and having worked on a ww2 game for 4 years if not more, this still makes me eager, even though i do not agree with everything in the game design model of BIA, I do admire the route that has been taken, portraying a imersive story, making it feel realistic while still staying true to what makes an fps, however I have to be critical its the third entry i hope you guys are planning beyond the "flank and manouver" "now with improved AI" cuz frankly afther 2 games it is gettin alitle old cant wait to see/hear more!

fletch ftw. 100% agree

Im somewhat looking forward to this game, i play bf2 on a daily bases and even though i dont really like the engine, for a number of reasons: movement still doesnt feel right, the load on memory and cpu is insane through out the game, even when trying to find a server, balance in maps and vehicals still is abit off, dare I say claymores completly breaking bf2:sf, because the flags are in "odd" places with only one acess, and ofcourse the huge randomness in hit detection and accuracy of weapons, i've had point blank headshots not kill, and footshots killing almost instantly, however it still works and i enjoy playing it, its a big leap forward compaired to bf1942 and bf:V, with this game i have a feeling its going to be a bf:V enjoyable game but not as big as bf2, maybe because theres not enough time inbetween bf2 and bf2142 just like bf:42 and bf:V personally i would not have mind if thyed milk bf2 for abit longer , couple of more boosters etc, then bring on the next bf fall 2007. none the less ill buy it and mostlikly enjoy it, and they know it

honestly, the media, the hl1 version was more inpressive then the source, they had a rough trip people leaving for prof reasons, but i agree they should have just finished the hl1 version and be done with it, i dont see this coming out ever, but oviously i hope they prove me wrong, just if you wanna ditch all that good sometimes awsome hl1 mapping please provide us with something wow, to that extend.

In the end you can always ask yourself, how much faith does a company has in their own product, if they believe they need flashy render movies to sell it.
-
with in the dutch law system i believe, making comercials that make the product seem nicer then it actually is, is ofcourse illigal, at the same time however they also have this commen sence part were, for instance if its really clear that the product would never be able to do that which is shown and the form of the comercial is more sugestive then real then it is allowed, to round this down, how apperent is it to people that what activision is showing is not what the product looks like. that is, how apperent is it to the people that see the comercial and are more main stream, im mean its a totally diffrent audience then the people that look for games on websites like gamespot or read game mags, i think there in is were the problem lies, the adience theyre trying to reach with these tv adds are in fact those people that will not easily recognize the "fake" form ingame its a totally diffrent story if you would have a "fake" trailer on a gamewebsite, but the funny part is they wouldnt do that because the people that go to these websites dont fall for the fake, so in my believes, showing only fake with no hint of actual gameplay, is unacceptable. for the audience theyre trying to reach and the fact that they wont even try to pull this on game websites says enough that theyre clearly trying to get unaware people to buy theyre product that is nowhere near capable of what theyre showing
-
personally i think its a compleet sell wagon, forcing people interested in the game without an xBox to buy a new expensive OS that just cant do that much more then your current, halo2 is never going to use dx10 features to the max, and it doesnt have to its just to get people buy the new OS, nice stratigy but its a compleet and utter scame and it kinda pisses me off that companies are doing this.

Action Adventure Title (Level Designer)
IR replied to DigitalMedia's topic in Non-Professional Recruitment
I just want to mention that the way your recruiting inst very appealing as in, your only writing what you want/expect, what does the artist gain and also a link to the companies website wouldnt be a bad thing, not to mention that i dont really have a clue what the actual name of the company is premier games? just a sugestion, good luck -
is it just me or did they just rip the animations from DOG for that strang whitish creature ? along with a whole bunch of other animations, sequences etc i dunno, its prolly fun enough as a shooter, but yeh imo doesnt have much to do with sin
