Hey thanks I actually thought about this around Christmas 2015 and was seriously considering switching the project to Black Mesa deathmatch but in the end I stuck with CSGO here's a reply of mine to a fellow mapcorian on the map's WIP thread detailing this issue I have started planning a new map for BM deathmatch from scratch but I'm keeping the idea of remaking de_forlorn into dm_forlorn on the plan B back-burner in case the new map development stalls

Sergio Leone's epic western from 1968, Once Upon a Time in the West with Charles Bronson and Henri Fonda. If you liked his other epic western movie, The good, the Bad and the Ugly with Clint Eastwood, you'll like this one.

3kilksphilip has joined the "fight" against the workshop voting manipulation and massive automated downvotes that plagued most of the maps released last week. https://www.reddit.com/r/GlobalOffensive/comments/4ukq5k/workshop_manipulation_3kliksphilip/ 10 maps that were the most hit by the vote manipulation will be featured and playtested on his servers during this week for better exposure and to let new players be aware of these maps. Big shout-out to @El_Exodus and @Vaya for representing in that thread I thank Philip for this initiative while waiting for Valve to ban these bot-accounts and cancel their downvotes...in 2020

I'm gonna give it another shot Enter the dragon (Bruce Lee)

This is good but I doubt Valve will do anything about it. If they were serious or cared about the workshop, they would have immediately acted upon this issue on day one. As I mentioned on my map's page, I also posted in the official CSGO group to draw the attention of Matt, Magnar and the other Valve guys but so far nothing. It's really sad and frustrating to see your hard work getting massively downvoted in 100+ downvotes within a matter of minutes, and the map sliding into the back of the workshop, denying new people from even discovering the map and playing it. My map "Forlorn" was literally forlorn in less than 24 hrs on the workshop. The hard truth is that as long Valve/steam are a monopoly, they can get away with anything without any real consequence on their bottom line

ITT: Post maps/scenes that never saw the light of the day.
will2k replied to Minos's topic in Level Design
Should I state the obvious? you are now in "violation" of the laws of level design, you should complete at least one map (my opinion is either the industrial facility I quoted you on last year or the new artic base in this recent post of yours). Do a simple whitebox, for example a variation of dust2 or inferno layout, then let the talented folks here at mapcore playtest it and you'd be amazed by the amount of feedback you'd get of layout and gameplay. Once satisfied, you can unleash you artistic warrior to detail and "artify" the hell of the map Best of luck -
I posted in the official CSGO workshop group about this issue (mass automated downvotes) but I highly doubt that any of the Valve guys will take a look or do something http://steamcommunity.com/groups/CSGOMapsWorkshop As @catfood and @Radix mentioned in an earlier post of theirs, the sad thing about this issue is not just the operation, but the exposure of the map for a wider group of people visiting the workshop. It's always nice to interact with different people who tried the map telling you what they liked and what they didn't, giving you feedback, suggestions, praise, criticism, etc By quickly, massively, and automatically downvoting the map after less than 24 hrs (by bots I presume), it quickly slid into oblivion to the n-th page of the workshop not to be seen by folks visiting the front page or even the first couple of pages of the maps workshop. The number of visitors even stopped shy of 1k viewers (not increasing anymore since no new visitors know about the map). As I said, I highly doubt Valve will do anything; the workshop has been a highly unmoderated mess since a long time (btw my map Cortona is still stolen for the past 7 months on the workshop and nothing has been done about it despite numerous flags, formal complaints, emails, private messages, etc) and nothing will change in the foreseeable future. Valve only seem to respond to either a major public outcry or a lawsuit.

Thanks everyone for the support, really overwhelming @Squad and @Bevielis mentioned, It seems the automatic downvoting on the workshop is really getting out of hand. I was away yesterday and didn't check the map but Tuesday late at night, it was at 4 stars, all positive ratings. Now I'm checking, it's down to 2 stars. I checked the ratings and until Wednesday mid-day, it was all positive ratings, then all of a sudden, a flow of 116 negative ratings flooded the map bringing it down to 2 stars and into oblivion. If I delete the map and reupload it now, it would show as it missed the deadline of July 20, right?

we shall not speak of him I will keep updating the map in the near future with some changes planned for more outdoor areas and less corridors. The wall you mentioned in mid might also be gone and merged with the garage area behind it. Thanks for dropping by and really appreciate your constant support back in the WIP thread

The map is live Thanks to everyone who posted feedback, suggestions, uplifting cheers during the 2+ years life span of this WIP thread; much appreciated

Forlorn - Bomb/Defuse by Will2k Forlorn is a bomb defuse map heavily inspired by old-school Half-Life and Opposing Force, a sort of homage to the Black Mesa Research Facility. The theme is a freshly evacuated and dismantled military research facility that is mostly emptied by now but still in rather pristine condition. An anarchist group is preparing to raid the recently abandoned base to blast open some secure doors and loot available chemical and hazardous content. Several Half-Life Easter eggs (visuals and sounds) are scattered around the map The map supports 64 players (32 vs 32) and features FBI vs Anarchists . A manually-tuned nav file with place names is included for bot play. Special thanks to Squad, RZL, Vaya, jackophant, Puddy, Bevielis, Terri, Andre Valera, Logic, General Vivi, Fnugz, tomm, and MaanMan for their feedback and playtesting, and a big shout-out to the mapcore community. Enjoy the map. http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=727634334

Grazie Flavio Indeed, and as I told you earlier, I am in the planning and preparation phase for a new map for Black Mesa I'm still however deciding whether to go for a multiplayer deathmatch or a small single player map

congrats man Bimmer owner and fan myself I see you got the stick version! fan of manual gearbox or overall cost issue? don't get me wrong, I'm a big fan of manual gearbox, just curious to see why you went with this choice

Thanks Motanum The cliff texture is already being reconsidered as a friend of mine earlier pointed this issue too. For the concrete texture, this is a stock CSGO texture from de_train (hr) The map will be publicly released very soon so you could play it and test it yourself. Stay tuned. Thanks for the pic, more Half-Life never hurts For CT spawn, it was loosely inspired by the first chapter of Opposing Force like in the below pic

Bale not taking those 2 magnificent left-foot shots on goal early in first half and Wales retreating to defense gave Portugal an offensive momentum. I believe if he shot those 2 "long distance canon balls" in first half, Wales would have gotten a boost in the morale and Portugal would have retreated/shifted its efforts more to defense. As @Sprony always says, Ronaldo should have cried yesterday Wales reaching the semi-finals is an achievement in its own and as Ryan Giggs said yesterday, if they continue like this, the Welsh football has a bright future

Nice I'm setting my eyes on one...soon
