i can add the text myself thats not the problem, the PROBLEM is the design, heres what you should really do for me right now that is ten times more important then the business card itself I NEED A LOGO OCTINIUM << turn this into a logo, change something about it, make the NAME a PICTURE, like all the logo's you see all over the place (refer to the top of this page, the big MAPCORE logo) if you would like to take the logo you make and put it onto the business card, thats fine too....but i really need the word octinium to be nice looking

lose the monitor, put the border back though

keep the borders thats what made it look nice, you have to realize...theres going to be A LOT of shit on this card....my name, my phone number, my address, etc etc etc btw i liked what ol put "computer services" so put that

btw the guy just gave me an estimate on the job you will get, its like $200, sine hes making about 3000 prints so $200 for 15 minutes worth of work.....take it before i do! (duffy is an mspaint master)

ok so we went to the place to see what was up and heres the deal the owner convined us that we should go for the traditional look instead of the techy and said that he liked this one best now, heres what i need you to change: the background must be WHITE and text BLACK remove the gear from the top left make the card 3.25 INCHES BY 1.75 INCHES (THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT) i am still accepting submissions but as of right now i would really like to see a traditional/classy type card. also....curman can you try to make that same card with NO pictures....as in just simple text modfication layouts....no pictures the guy that owns the place basically said pictures make it too busy, it should be a BUSINESS card, not a masterpiece we're getting the copies made tomorrow, so if you were ever going to contribute, now is the time

octinium OCT you should just abandon the layout you have altogether.....in black and white it will look nasty

see the thing is....i dont think im paying for "designs" i think what i get is a text like this this is why the "company logo (octinium)" must have a certain design to it (like for example the o overlaplping around the whole word, or the o being smaller than the rest of the word, or the o having a part of it flaring off. it cant really be a "design" while i wish i had the money for the shit you're making....it just isnt going to happen like i said it has to look professional while techy at the same time....but thats JUST the company "logo" (octinium) not the actual layout of the card itself....for example if the gear was the O in the word octinium....then that might be workable think about logo's of big time companies today...stuff like dell, ibm, compaq...its all about the simplicity but individuallity of the format of the word....not really about the design around it

why? the guy that is looking for someone to make business cards for him is very liberal with his money...its an easy way to make $100-150 in one shot (in about 30 minutes worth of work) its their loss if they dont want to try....besides i have curman and hes the man

thats actually pretty cool....i like the change from the traditional business card like design.....but keep pumping out ideas....i would REALLY like to see a more "techy" look....like streamlined matrix type shit not because thats what i like but thats what people who like computers like. they go "oooh look its all spacy and i dont understand it, it must mean they're super computer gods"

i just think that you have to be fair to the mod, no one REALLY knows how it plays so there is no reason to shut it down already. look at farcry....you could call that original but realistically its really not.....its just your standard shooter with modern guns. the hl2 engine might completely change what we think of as "the generic modern warfare" type game. maybe its nothing like counterstrike. i can understand where you're coming from taylor and it does make sense....after so many half life 1 mod's you eventually feel like people are beating a dead horse. if any of those mods that were deemed "failed" were on the hl2 engine before any other mod....i bet they would be instant hits. its the technology holding back the mod concept, not the idea itself. if someone made a virtual reality game where you were actually IN the battle fighting in "modern warfare situations" would it still be your standard "modern warfare game"? no, because it takes it to a new level....it improves on something that already existed, but just blew it out of the water.

color costs like $300 for 75 cards...its pretty nuts there are alot of nice things you can do with black and white....like i said simplicity is key....i really dont want something flashy, but i dont want just generic text....it has to have some kind of flare to it which is why im saying be creative with the word "octinium" but keep the rest very professional and "tech" like.

thanks im just saying, this is a case where less is more....apply the methods of KISS (keep it simple stupid) the word "octinium" has to be "logo-able" as in the font or typeface of the word must be distinguishable from something you would type in times new roman like this for instance: the coca cola logo is more like a picture than it is letters....which is why you could easily distinguish it

and whats wrong with that? lets see A. its fun B. people enjoy it C. its a proven formula if something works it works.....sure YOU dont like it....but its you vs the gigantic community that does....and until you decide to come up with this brilliant alternative, i dont think your "this mod isnt original hence isnt worth mentioning" attitude has any validity. where are you when all the people in the modeling section are making models of ak-47's....or where in the skinning section people are skinning ak 47's or in the 2d section where people are making 2d art of ak-47's

its very cool but you have to keep 2 key things in mind 1. its going to be black and white, so as cool as that looks its not going to look cool on the card 2. it has to have the full name of the company 3. it has to have WHAT WE DO on the card 4. i was looking for a more sleek, "technology" like look. thats all i can think of right now im thinking more like....just edit the text "octinium" and make it just customized enough to be logo....the layout isnt really that important, its more a company logo that is to be had something i made in 3 seconds and only did half, but to give you an idea

me and a friend have been fixing computers in our neighborhood for some time now and decided to get some business cards made because were tired of writing down our info on napkins. the name of the company is "octinium" and below it it should say something along the lines of "Computer Repair/Maintenance/Upgrades" the only other info that must be on the card is email : dduffy@gmail.com website: http://www.soontbh.com and something like "based in middle village ny" so im asking if you guys could try your best to be creative and give like 5/10 min concept drawings in photoshop making the octinium logo in the middle snazzy looking. you can put the stuff where you like on the card....where you feel it would look best. if you think that im missing some kind of important information that you would add....be my guest the card will be printed in black and white (most likely), so dont go crazy with the colors. were getting a shit load of them made so if you make the design we choose i'll be more than happy to send a final copy of it to you so you can show your mom. also i have a friend who is looking for someone to design business cards for his boss's company (yes, you get money for it, he uses paypal baby!)....so naturally ill refer you asap. love, duffy BE CREATIVE
