lenny Posted June 20, 2024 Report Posted June 20, 2024 Hello there, I am reaching out to gather insights and advice on optimizing level design to enhance player engagement and satisfaction. I have been working on a first person shooter project and; while I feel confident in my technical skills, I am looking to deepen my understanding of the nuanced aspects of level design that keep players immersed and excited. How do you ensure that levels are challenging enough to keep players engaged without becoming frustrating? What techniques do you use to gradually increase difficulty in a way that feels natural and rewarding? What are some effective strategies for incorporating storytelling elements into the environment? How do you use the layout; objects; and visual cues to convey the games narrative and backstory without disrupting gameplay? How do you design levels that maintain a good flow; keeping players moving forward and exploring without feeling lost or overwhelmed? Are there specific design principles or patterns that you follow to achieve this? What methods do you use to gather and implement player feedback during the level design process? How do you balance player input with your own creative vision to create the best possible experience? Have you experimented with any unique mechanics or design elements that significantly enhanced player engagement in your levels? If so; I would love to hear about what worked and what did not. Also, I have gone through this post: https://www.mapcore.org/topic/21311-new-to-level-devops-and-would-love-some-advice/ Any examples; resources; or personal experiences you can share would be immensely helpful. I am eager to learn from this community’s wealth of knowledge and improve my own design skills. Thank you in advance for your help and assistance. Quote
