I tried selecting them all and pressing backspace but nothing happened.
Sorry if its an obvious fix, It's my first time making a ~~map~~ shape.

Ok so I managed to fix it.
I had to delete all those sily faces. Select all the edges (the general border) and simply press 'P'.
