Hello everyone 
Since the 25
/04/2024 update let us host workshop maps as we were able to in CSGO, the idea of making my first CS2 map popped in my head. Mapcore 2024 contest is my best opportunity to stay motivated along the whole project.

So after a few shitty test projects, many topics and video watched, I started my journey on the 11/05/2024.
I will use this thread to keep track of my progression and share my inspiration and issues along the way.

I'm fully aware of @TulioBRr  de_volcano map entrie for the contest and hope it won't lose me too many points on the creativity criteria.

Anyway my map is inspired by my trip to Guadeloupe and my unconditional love to TF2
, so expect to see lots of tropical scenary, a mix of "poor town", jungle, cave and some secret base. It can remind you of various maps, such as Biome, Ancient, Agency, Seaside, and Ruins.  The more I think about it the more it looks like it could be a first operation csgo map.

I'm currently doing most of my playtests on CS France discord but I'm considering moving to mapink, mapcore and source engine when my layout will be more refined.

Whole map made out of blocks with mostly no walls, custom textures weren't pack as intended
but we get fun anyway

map was still made out of blocks XD


* overall layout upgraded
* added first volcan 
* added water t spawn
* added light to stop full black zone
* more layout structure
* Big change on B layout
* Fix custom texture (take me a while to understand how cs2 work)
* first minimap :D

Time to redraw the layout on paper cause it wasn't easy to explain my ideas to my friends, 
Now it's still hard to explain but they now make fun of my drawing skill

* Added upper B, acces only via B main for T

In the mean time i started redrawing the map using faces instread of cube,

I also took a look at my compiler getting slower and slower after time:
Generated clusters for 100078 regions in 27.18 seconds
456163 clusters generated
Distance merged regions (7815 merged to 7664)
pre-merged to 456012 clusters

Not a big fan of the new vis visualisation in hammer, kinda hard to spot problematic cluster

Made the whole map with brush instread of csgo cubes xd
Lower my 400.000 cluster down to 80.000 🙏

make the map way rounder thanks again @jizzuscry for sharring me this video: 

* Upper B acces moved to top mid
* various bug fixes you know

16/05/24:

Lot of changes due to previous day playtest, most complain were:

  • Split pink A ramp in half
  • Make angle tighter on B main, easier for PM

17/05/2024: various fixes and improvements of the geo

you can play the 7 diff game

  • Useless things added, team intro, deathmatch spawn
  • CT spawn smaller
  • lobby window frame
  • B pit and cover
  • black stairs room widden
  • remove hidding spot under pink stears
  • con new material, new entrance location for T
  • B main green to top con yellow line blocked
  • Balconi wall added on B and so many small fixes

  • Black ramp to Upper B is now a ladder room
  • Lobby and CT spawn are now rotated by 15° to reduce angle from A
  • more cover on A
  • Various fixes and changes with how angle works

After 18 and 19/05 playtests i get lot of review, so i added more options to spice up the gameplay

  • Window mirador for T holding CT pushing toward B
  • Fix most of the boost to go out of the map

  • Curtain to bring light in CT spawn
  • Adjust truck bomb site to nerf awp
  • New backalley
  • Ramp to help T to get upper banana control without jumping (not included in sceenshot)

We were looking at 2 player falling off the map and trying to kill each other in the void
