Saulc Posted May 22, 2024 Report Posted May 22, 2024 Hello everyone Since the 25/04/2024 update let us host workshop maps as we were able to in CSGO, the idea of making my first CS2 map popped in my head. Mapcore 2024 contest is my best opportunity to stay motivated along the whole project. So after a few shitty test projects, many topics and video watched, I started my journey on the 11/05/2024. I will use this thread to keep track of my progression and share my inspiration and issues along the way. Map link: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3244308289 I'm fully aware of @TulioBRr de_volcano map entrie for the contest and hope it won't lose me too many points on the creativity criteria. Anyway my map is inspired by my trip to Guadeloupe and my unconditional love to TF2, so expect to see lots of tropical scenary, a mix of "poor town", jungle, cave and some secret base. It can remind you of various maps, such as Biome, Ancient, Agency, Seaside, and Ruins. The more I think about it the more it looks like it could be a first operation csgo map. I'm currently doing most of my playtests on CS France discord but I'm considering moving to mapink, mapcore and source engine when my layout will be more refined. Saulc Posted May 22, 2024 Author Report Posted May 22, 2024 (edited) 14/05/2024 Time to redraw the layout on paper cause it wasn't easy to explain my ideas to my friends, Now it's still hard to explain but they now make fun of my drawing skill * Added upper B, acces only via B main for T In the mean time i started redrawing the map using faces instread of cube, I also make the map less blocky with some round sweet angle, I started to fall in love with Hammer x5 I also took a look at my compiler getting slower and slower after time: Generated clusters for 100078 regions in 27.18 seconds 456163 clusters generated Distance merged regions (7815 merged to 7664) pre-merged to 456012 clusters Not a big fan of the new vis visualisation in hammer, kinda hard to spot problematic cluster Edited May 22, 2024 by Saulc Quote
