There were potential "solutions", but they required me to kill or get spotted, as I wrote above. So yes, maybe it is possible to complete the game with no powers, but in my case I got stuck in an area that I couldn't exit unless I broke my playstyle. A case like that doesn't exactly scream good design.

On a different note, I really tried giving this game a chance... but it's just not working. I attempted it with the "no powers mode" and ended up just being frustrated, because none of the levels seem to be designed with no powers in mind. In addition to that, on the third mission I got stuck and had to restart because the path I had chosen lead to a dead end without powers. When I tried to go back my path was blocked by a guard that I had no way of getting around without either getting spotted or killing him from a range. Both of which aren't the ghost way I would have liked to play the game. Beyond that, the world feels empty and soulless, the story is boring and inauthentic (immediately upon a new contender for the throne, all the guards switch loyality without needing further proof? really?) and the AI feels gamey. I kind of wish I had given it less of a chance, because then at least I could have gotten my money back. Oh well.

Did you update you graphics driver? I bought and tried the game with and without updating the driver. With the newest one I got an increase of about 15 frames on a 770.

Surprised nobody posted about this yet...

It's like metroidvania + a little bit of dark souls + bugs... lots of bugs. As in, real insect bugs, not game bugs.

I played through it, gotta say it's pretty enjoyable. Story is pretty good. The only thing bad was that there were a few times where I felt like my inputs were being eaten, but that disappeared after v sync was turned off. Otherwise pretty excellent.

I usually stay away from trailers and spoilers so It took me a couple hours to realize what kind of game I was playing, when I died of hypothermia dozens of times on the snowy mountains, i thought there has to be a easier way. Turns out there's many ways to survive, clothes, eating peppers, lighting a torch or fire, lighting a wooden meele weapon on fire, sitting next to a campfire, etc, rtc. That's when it clicked for me, it was like, shit I see... the game wants me to think! :0

This is exactly what I feel is missing from many modern games. Thinking and being able to formulate a plan, then actually attempting the plan and dealing with the consequences.

    JUST A PSA

Apparently Mapcore uses cloudflare, meaning it was subject to the Cloudbleed leak, meaning there is a chance people's passwords have been leaked.

Thrik can you confirm or deny whether this has affected the site?

EDIT: If you're unsure whether you have been compromised on other sites, you can use this site to check whether it uses cloudflare: http://www.doesitusecloudflare.com/

Finished ori and the blind forest. Pretty decent game overall, I like how the game progresses most of the time and the challenges you face for the abilities are great. I just wish they would have made it so you don't have to almost complete the game to get all the abilities, would have been amaze to see them try to put all of the abilities together in some gauntlet style execution loops. Still, great game.

I didn't know where to post this either, but since it was recorded in Ireland, it seemed fitting to put it here, even if Blackroom is most likely canned forever, lol.

I assume it's laid out in the documentary but as a tldr, why was blackroom canned?

BMS is being actively updated and many of the newest CSGO graphical features directly transferred over thanks to BMS' active coders. BMS tech could also be transferred into a new title, it doesn't have to strictly live on their workshop (I might be wrong on that, but I don't think I am.)

As a result, BMS is, outside of CSGO, the "newest" Source you can work with. And it has all of the SP scripting stuff included inside.

almost sounds like a return to the good old goldsource days... I miss those and the weirdness that came with them

Right now the TASBot is remote executing code on a SNES via Link To The Past to draw a fucking FMV of a Portal speedrun frame by frame, and the chat is half convinced they're somehow actually running Portal on a SNES. This is the best thing by far from this entire marathon.

I was actually thinking about having a GDQ thread, but I guess it's a bit late. DRAM world was HYPE

There are plenty of reasons there shouldn't be shield enemies in any SP game ever. But the fact that they are in Doom is so much worse. Doom is a symbol of careless, coverless combat where you rely more or clutch reactions and instinct rather than thinking. Having shield enemies in Doom is an antithesis to what the game is about.

I finished the new Doom. It was an ok experience, but two things really got in the way of the experience: The level design and shield enemies. The level design because even though it was linear, it just didn't feel fun to explore every alcove just to find the security key or skull or whatever to continue. I don't play point and click adventure games for the same reason, it's just not interesting to click everywhere on the screen on the off chance that there is an item I need there to be picked up. Shield enemies felt unnecessary and completely out of touch with the franchise, especially when they mix together with the tougher enemies in the game. I don't really enjoy combat where I'm already busy staying alive by doing glory kills while at the same time being forced to deal with random charging mobs that can't be damaged until they attack. By the end of the game I was feeling a lot of combat fatigue (either I am just getting bored of combat in general or it wasn't the best pacing), but at least the boss battles were really enjoyable. I feel the game suffers a bit from too much hype for what it delivers. I felt like I enjoyed Mankind Divided much more than this.

How far you got in Doom @Sentura? I remember dropping fps for me as well but only in quite advanced maps. I only have a 970M and runs on pretty high settings. Also seems works best in Vulkan so maybe try to enable that if you have the support.

According to the recent interviews story doesn't take itself seriously at all, should just be a parody… I think it's more annoying in replays because you can't skip sequences (unless you pay the highest difficulty)

About the story taking itself too seriously: I'm just going by what the in-game dialogue is. I've noticed the text on the loading screens is way more over the top, which is great and hilarious. I guess there isn't a happy medium
