It looks good man. Especially considering it's your first gun (right?).

Thanks Pudzzor. Yes it's my first gun.

Chainsaw: Thanks for the crits. I agree with all of them. The plastic sure looks a bit to mint. A guy in school joked it reminded him of a leather gucci pattern. Poor material definition.

Good job with your shotgun. Really digging how the specular works on that wood.

Did you model from a reference? I wonder if that grayish coating on the knife blade is in your reference if there is one.

Haven't modeled anything in ages (last attempt was a railgun some year ago but that was a bit too ambitious I'm afraid).

Felt the 3D bug and had a free day in between holiday celebrations so I pretty much modeled non stop from noon till evening (ridiculously long for this :/)

I really like swords but didn't wanna spend time designing anything so I just went for the "Elucidator" from Sword Art Online.

So, here it is. Still needs some tweaks, some proportions seem off. I think I know what it is but crit away!

Just testing a high poly, not gonna bake & texture... having enough issues as it is, the wires are a total mess. Anyways.. pretty happy with it so far even though it took me far longer than expected. Gonna wrap things up when I have the time over the next days.

I've found this render with a better work on metal imho.

That Lee Enfields texture is incredible, the metal has such a convincing machined look to it

Your wooden base texture is awesome! But I feel you can really improve with that metal texture. I share you a ref pic to get you inspired. Even if that metal looks too much redish imo you can get a closer look to see there is less scratchs than yours and smaller sleek details. Looking forward to see your stuff updated.

    Great work btw !

Would love to see a wire on this.

Do you want to see the wires on the high or low poly?

Chainsaw: Owkey. Then I think that the coating on the blade should have been more matte/less specular than the rest of the metal. For contrast and realism. That kinda coating is really rough and non-reflective from my experience.

That Lee ensfield is amazing. I'm gonna use it as a ref for materials next time.

Hi everyone I'm new here. I really want to learn 3D and other medias. I finish the "Getting Started" tutorial series (These tutorials cover the basics of the 3DS max) from the Adobe Learning Channel, so I decided to practice some techniques I've learned from the videos.

After some attempts to make some props I finished a very basic bar table:

-I tried to texturize that, I created the normals using the Nvidia plugin for photoshop (btw, that was the first time I used that plugin) but I didn't know how to put it in the material editor (the normal map). I could only use the textures you see in the photos (I forgot what's the right name of those textures that don't have the "normal" and specular information on it xD)

I think there are not much more to say about the model itself, but if someone knows some others learning channels and have some advices for someone that is starting to modelling I would be very thankfull.

Very cool! Those gauges are a bit undefined though, could use more contrast (more crisp white!).

    RomanGladius (View in 3D)

    [Blocked Image: http://p3d.in/model_data/snapshot/sUpVG]

I tried making a Roman Gladius, I still have to skin it though.

I also made a pointlessly hipoly version for no reason.

Any CC would be much appreciated.

YOUR TEXTURING IS GETTING BETTER BUT WHY DO YOU HAVE SO MANY LOOPS AND CUTS IN YOUR GEOMETRY, ARE YOU RETARDED OR SOMETHING SRS QUESTION?

/caps lock and couldn't be bothered to turn it off and re-write it even tho explaining it has probably been more characters than just fixing the mistake
