That looks good enough for visualization purposes to me, Seir. Simple and quick, I like it.
Tweaked the rebar and fence proportions, the fence poles may be a tad small though... I can't decide.

Fence is cool now, I don't know how the ribdeck is levitating? Also the straight edge of the ground is a bit suspicious. Maybe Texture with alpha?

I'm not too sure about the ribdeck either, I know I want a few pieces on the fence though. Possibly a few planks of wood with the metal screwed/nailed to it, I'll have to mess with some ideas.

You're talking about the green line under the dirt mesh? That's just a helper dummy for the fence.
Ribdeck is cool but put it on the ground. Here's a quick render of "my vision" ![]()

Some bricks and palettes included.
Thanks Seir.
Sometimes the simplest solution is the best ![]()
No prob., yo want my .MAX file?
Sure, I always learn something when I look at others work.
Some texture work on the gas tank.

That looks really cool Bunglo. Maybe for the gas tank you could try and focus some grunge around the two circular things holding it up because in real life that's where grunge (paint peel/dust/dirt) would usually develop prominently.
I'm modeling a Tangara for a group project:

Looks cool Aaron! Enough good for a visualisation. BTW talking about visualisations
Here's mine - finished project!
I followed a random Youtube max tutorial for a soccer ball, and the result has 57 thousand faces. That's not good, is it? I mean, I know modern hardware is powerful and all but the last time I can remember polygons being discussed commonly numbers that high were typical for an entire scene, not just one ball. I redid it without the extruded and beveled edges to make the soccer ball pattern (since I'd assume typically that's stuff the texture would handle), and still got 1900 faces for the basic sphere.
Modeling makes me feel dumb. But there's so much potential for being less dumb here! ![]()
57 thousand faces for a small prop like that is common in the games industry, until the art gets optimized ![]()
Actually I think you probably followed a tutorial for modeling targeted towards renders, not games.
Yeah, you can always just bake that down to a lower res sphere! So it's not wasted =P
Quote from JetsetlemmingSee, this makes no sense to me. Bake it? I don't have a clue what that means. I guess I haven't found the right tutorials yet.
Baking is just a term used when you want to take all the lighting and depth info from a highpoly model and create maps (normals, AO, etc) that can be used on a lowpoly version of said model.
Have a gander:

I've said it plenty of times already but Eat3d has the best tutorials for next-gen art, costly but so worth the dough:
I decided to set out on my own and create something unique that was all mine.

Welcome to 1998. All you need is a 128x128 texture for that and you're done. ![]()
seir: I cant read that but it looks cool. I showed a friend who does that sort of thing and he said it's very impressive.
