Cbble is such a weird thing now, the current design is so different from the original. The whole B side is entirely different.

Also, sticking a few arrows next to a map is a little odd looking. I think you should choose signs or maps. Maybe hanging signs inside, maps outside.

Anyone else feel like they are kind of ripping off the doom logo?

At this point I really do have the feeling the team consists of some excellent marketers taking advantage of the current climate of social/political discourse . The timing is too good. It will be interesting to see whether or not this is a financial success.

Also how crazy is it that RWS is still in business?

I think the logo was a conscious choice to try to liken it to Doom's controversy. I imagine it will work decently well right now though, if Steam still carries it despite the rating, I imagine the "sjws taking away our games :(" ethos will work at least reasonably well with Steam's community, judging by the discussions board on greenlight. Look how well Postal 2 still sells on Steam, it's how RWS still runs .

How do you guys keep logitech mice for so long?! I've gone through like 4 of them, two g5s, two g500s. It's either mouse3 breaks or the cord stops working. After that I got a Steelseries Sensei Raw that I now use as a laptop mouse, and a Steelseries Rival that's pretty much perfect.

wow, reviving this slightly late... just realised what I read. When I said indexing, I meant that rather sad excuse for a performance index that they ran. Gave a score based on lowest sub score.

I'm well aware of being able to type an app/file name on the windows screen.

Also... since that conversation: free windows 10 upgrade for practically anyone with a computer that's <5 years old

hahaha, that thing. I wanted to look at my number after getting my ssd, was a little sad to see that it was removed. It could've been a decent benchmark for system requirement stuff, but it was so buried.

Let me just give you an example here:

I'm a nova 3, because this MM is sooooo shitty. I just matched into a game with a bunch of angry ~14 year olds, against one guy carrying the other team with 8 hours. So far I've been called a faggot ~10 times, tk'd once, and had to mute the entire other team + two people on my team. Hoooooooly shit, the half isn't over yet

    Yes it is.

Only if you're sticking it on an SSD or something. If you have a reasonably sized hard drive, say 1tb, it's going to be a whole ~7% of that drive. You could fit 14 GTA Vs on that hard drive.

Holy shit, how did they drop the ball this much?! It's past a fucking year since the original release to play the game on a platform that was around at the time of the original release. What could they have even been doing to cause a two month delay two weeks before the game is out?!

You're a little late, it's coming in Windows 10. This would be really difficult to do on previous versions too, as most applications wouldn't support these notifications.

Windows 8 doesn't need modding... You press the windows key on <8 and you had a menu, now that menu is just full screen which I don't even use it, I boot straight to desktop and to access things like control panel, right click the start button and you get a full range of tools.

If you know anything about windows and it's window key shortcuts, win8 is just a better OS.

Running 2 versions of skype isn't necessarily bad as it just allows you to run it the way you use win8, you can also launch chrome in "windows 8 mode" which is super useful /sarcasm

The only thing I'm sad about is the removal of the windows indexing system, but that's seriously trivial.

I think Microsoft have received an unfair amount of flak for win8. People expected this to be a bad release and have done nothing but look for things wrong with it

    Display More

It looked different, so the "power users" cried.

Indexing still is there, though, just start typing on the start menu to search.

Just finished Wolfenstein the other day. Hated the ending, the rest was so good! The ending was real predictable and boring, while the enemy encounters were plain frustrating.

Also just finished FRACT OSC, which was pretty good. The world was rather confusingly layed out, though it looked nice.

Picked up Shadow of Mordor in the Steam sale, once my SSD gets here I'll be playing that.

First in 2015 I'm pretty sure I've finished more games than in 2014 already.

@Marcem: What will be different about your source port in regard to others?

I'm basing mine off of the original software renderer, as opposed to extending the OpenGL renderer, like Quakespasm or Darkplaces. If you're familiar with Chocolate Doom, that's what I'm going for.

I should probably post this here for the people not keeping up with the Games WIP thread:

I've been working on a Quake source port, using the original id software renderer (SDL2 is being used for input/output). This is what it's looking like at the moment:

Still need to add sound, then I'm probably going to do controller support next because why not, then I will look into the more modern support stuff (IE not exploding on big maps).
