You could use semisolids for the stairs. Semisolids don't cause cuts on solids and nonsolids (they do cause cuts on semisolids though afair).

If I were ever to hire a texture artist, it would be someone from sweden.

I didn't do that myself but when I read your post I thought it might be useful to read the human interface guidelines from Apple, Microsoft, Gnome, KDE, ... (imo none of them do it really well though)

I loved listening to some of the melancholic tunes in Rome while wiping out other nations.

I hope Empires lives up to Rome.

Which would suggest they've updated to Unreal 3.

Why? They stated many times that they rewrote the renderer.

Is no one else a bit at the serious lack of anti aliasing?

The awesomeness of deferred shading (my guess). Still surprised though... most other developers manage to make highres screenshots and resize these.

I'm still eager for the Duke.

Only static shadows or masked textures. This is due to the deferred shading... almost no engine with deferred shading is able to do that (because it's a stupid and expensive hack to do so). No SSAA also.

I only have static shadows :s. The shadows work with realtime lighting though.

Also the engine we use at work renders alpha shadows realtime without much trouble, if you can have depth sorting with alpha, you can have shadows..

And depth sorting requires additional buffers and more passes, which is costy.

Also: sorry, I missread D3ads' comment. I thought he was referring to translucency. UE3 can do static soft shadows, hard stencil shadows and sampled (=soft) stencil shadows iirc.

Unreal 3 doesn't render alpha shadows?!! Epic epically fails

I'm totally against projects like this. They can render our jobs totally pointless one day.

    Yeah, he should stop this.

@Love: Promising (art, code <3) but the fighting look completely out of place. :/

There are laws in the EU that allow you to resell your software license (given that you bought in the EU).

regarding indesign: i was once all about indesign for making my notes as exam preparation, but then i gave LaTeX a closer look and for what i can say: it's like all the way to go. you can get it for free and there is tons of addons and literature on the web. once you get a hang of it you can make professional looking documents in no time. save the money for indesign on something better!

I wish there was a voting function on Mapcore, because for mentioning LaTeX you deserve being upvoted! LaTeX simply does it right and if you happen to be a typography fetishist (like I am), there is imo nothing that comes close. :]
