  • Is this Doom 4?

You do realise this is leaked screenshots tho, right? From a game far away to look decent to even be announced, let alone to have media released to the public. Just sayin.

I was kinda expecting this, firing 30+ people at once, one of them was bound to try a bit of payback!

This is bad news tho, it may further pull down id's reputation more than it already is whit the bad release of Rage. (Although It's a fine game in my opinion, had it's flaws but what matters is I had loads of fun with it)

Amazing seir, the tech is really good.

I love how nicely modular the assets for the CoJ game are! Very nice to work with.

    Nice I like em.IXAT eh

Careful with your UV optimisation, sometimes you can go a bit too far with backwards words.

That's why you should always use decals when you wanna have text or logos on your assets.

    Creation of a FoV spinner:

One project manager to create the task, a producer to approve, a lead to assign the task, a ui artist / programmer to create it, a lead to sign it off, a in-house and EA Q&A to test it, 3 bugs reported, bugs are assigned to 50 random people before they finally land to the correct guy, guy stops his work for a whole afternoon to fix a tiny reported bug and reports fixed, producer/lead resend to a in-house and EA Q&A tests it again, and finally the leads / producers sign it off.

Whatever happened to get shit done man?

yeah fair enough, I don't know why they decided to go so overboard on that that level either, so far everything was kept the same feeling from the original. Here's hoping it was the only time they decided to do that.

really liking that texturing, good job; there's some bigger chunks of scratches or indentations on the side of the container that are probably bigger than they should be, and it would be better if they were either smaller or removed completely. Also, it's a bit monochromatic, but then again, that's what's making it look so "Brink", which is a good thing.

"But left intact and they all respect valve's vision"I wouldn´t say they stayed true to the original concerning player guidance... at all. 8|

Erm... ok, can you backup that with some kind of argument? Have you played it?

We're 4 hours in and so far the levels are exactly like the valve's ones. (Those screens I posted previously are the "stronger" ones, where they went a bit crazy with changes)

Most of the changes throughout the game are just filling the scenes with more stuff, like ferns, little bushes, more trees and buildings in the background, more rubble, etc. To make the experience visually richer, even the lighting is MUCH better, I think they rebaked all the levels with more light bounces; but the gameplay areas and guideance are pretty intact.

Playing HL2 again, or rather... lemme rephrase this, I'm having my girlfriend play HL2 while I watch, she has near to none shooter experience and it's really fun to watch her, you even learn a few things and if anything you learn how genious Valve is at level design, giving direction hints with color, light, etc.

Anyway, I also installed a gigantic (10gb) mod called cinematic Mod 11, and god damn it makes the game look amazing. (If you make sure you turn the hilarious characters off)

All the textures are really sharp, and some of the levels were pimped up a bit. (But left intact and they all respect valve's vision)

  • Nexuiz Launch

    • February 20, 2012 at 9:47 AM

Dudes! Congratulations on shipping this, I don't have a Xbox tho, only my flatmate does, so I might give it a go on his console, and then play it for real on PC. (It's been like a year since I played Nexuiz)

This is a BIG release guys, I hope you all realise what we have in our hands here, this is the new and old school blended together in awesomeness.

Seeing as Mapcore is one of my homes (and i talk about it in almost all of my interviews but everyone always ends up editing it out )

What? Motherfuckers... There's a plot agaisnt us, but the Hurg will always rise against the rich and stand for the poor.

    Quote from Kedhrin

I'm wanting to include a level editor with the PC version of Nexuiz... hopefully we can, because that'd be bad ace

That would be amazing, It's been tooooo long we got a proper Quake3 / Unreal kind of game, and with the editor, especially being CE3, I can possibly see a new trend of MP levels being dumped quite regularly! One can only hope man, so make sure you do release it.

    Wait... WHAT?!?

Thibault, I'm so sorry to hear that, were you affected?

This is really bad news, and extremely unfair. It also probably means there's no plans for another title in the close future, therefore no funding from a publisher = force to lay people off since this is a independent studio.

Site should be working now, my hosting service was down for a few hours today.

Unwrapping is one of those things that are extremely daunting when you start, but trust me on this, it's actually the easiest thing to master as an artist.

All you need to do is, unfold, detach and stitch. Or flattern 45º and stich. (Sometimes you may use cylindrical projections for cylindrical shapes) And loads of horizontal and verticle vertex snapping, you should avoid having wonky / wavy UV's, it's easier to texture and better for nomral maps.

And yes, I use a tablet a lot when I paint, especially when I need the pressure thingie on the brush. But I still tend to use the mouse a lot, after all those years of gaming, the mouse is your eternal friend!
